Correlation Trace and Phase Questions
I am new to correlation trace. I am embarrassed to say that over a month ago I had never even heard of it. This is what happens when you live inside of egg cartons on your wall too long... :)
Well, I am using a Beatscape combo and I decided to import the elements of the loop rather than using the combo.
After looking at each track individually in a correlation trace plugin I noticed that most of the elements, other than the bass, of the combo were at times almost perfectly split between the red and the white.
My question is why do so many synths use phase like this if they are just going to disappear in a mono mix?
And, by adjusting the bass bands to bring the phase into the white just above the line does this somehow improve the fidelity of the sound in relation to how it fits and is focused in the overall mix?
Do some out of phase sounds sometimes sound better than sounds that are phased just above the line out of the red?
Is using the correlation trace only for mono compatibility or is there also sound improvement by making the sounds less out of phase?
Thanks in advance for any input on this question.
