Corrupt DSF Strings Free Expansion

Hello, I have downloaded the free expansion pack for DSF Symphonic Strings a few different times now and each time once I start the install it fails and says the file is corrupt. I have downloaded to two separate computers using two different internet connections and nothing seems to work. I have also used win zip and 7zip to extract the download. For what it is worth....I have had the exact same problem with beatscape since it came out (which was originally also on my older, now retired computer) and have therefore never been able to install and use it. No problems with the other downloads.... Thanks!

Dude, you gotta call/email support about that stuff. That would make me very upset if it were me. I haven't seen any other similar complaints about this though so maybe tech support can help you pinpoint the issue. Good luck.

Use a download manager - that's my advice.  Something like Free Download Manager works well, and you are far more likely to get a complete, un-corrupted download.

I downloaded it day before yesterday and it was fine. Already using it. Maybe they changed something. Wasn't much traffic when I did either.
Hope they get you straightened out

My download froze on 2 separate attempts. My guess is it didn't fully download and is showing as corrupt. I had to disable my antivirus (Microsoft security essentials), downloaded the file and installed it then reenabled mse.
Also fwiw 7zip worked fine once I got the whole file

Yeah,I downloaded it the first day too,and all fine, the sounds are pretty good though I find it a little hard to fathom the value of $149 for it though?

Yeah it could be that your internet connection loses it for a second and things screw up.

+1 to getting a download manager to ensure you get a good, clean download. Just do a search for 'Download Manager' for your browser and you'll find plenty of free ones.

I had downloaded DSF strings and installed OK. I think your internet connection was interrupted and messed up your download.

again, +1 for getting a download manager. I had used this before for huge download + 1 Gid.
    Try this http://download.cnet.com/iGetter/3000-2071_4-10435092.html.

Let me know if this help.

I've never had a problem downloading with FireFox but I think it has an internal download manager thingy. I could be wrong on that though... but really it has always worked. Cheers.

D/Ld the strings pack no probs. In fact, like the poster above, I use FF and have never had any probs downloading from CW. Best of luck.

Thor I remember you saying something about not being able to d/l Beatscape a while back. And now the same thing with the DSF stuff?  damn!!

I know this ain't helping you but I did like everyone else, d/l the DSF files, installed with no problems.

But I have had problems like this before. If it were me, I would disable all you virus stuff, get a d/l manager, or use Firefox or Chrome.

I don't like Internet Explorer. Just to show you what I mean:

I regularly surf the net using both FF and Chrome with no problems what so ever. I just had IE 9 up and running, was impressed by it's looks and maybe giving it a chance. As I tried to scroll a few pages it was stuttering to do that! Come on! I closed it and won't open it again!!

I experienced DL corruption problems using Firefox before.  This download manager solved the problem instantly:

Thanks for all the quick responses! Now that I am back from work I realize I did not provide all relevant details. I have tried to download with Firefox and Explorer. I have also used a download manager. I did not think to disable my anti-virus though...I have security essentials as well. Just tried again with it disabled and firefox and still no go. Looks like I will just have to call tech support. I will update with the latest. Thanks again

That's messed up. Multiple tries on multiple platforms, AV deactivated and a download manager? And it's happened with other downloads? Are you sure your modem or (if you have one) router aren't crapping out on you or perhaps your internet connection is funky? Maybe a bad ethernet card/cable/port/wireless connection? Do you have another computer to try on? If you do I'd try the second computer and hook it up directly (hardwire) to the main modem (ie: if you have a router or doing this wirelessly hardwire the download system right to the MODEM VIA ethernet cable). Then use FF and your download manager. I might be completely wrong but it sounds like something is wrong with your connection. Not the files being downloaded.

Just a note: NEVER disable antivirus while downloading files. That's what antivirus is for. Only do this when installing files, if needed. Otherwise you risk infection.

Downloaded it last night. First try IE8 the download finished at 84% and I had a corrupt zip file. Switched to Firefox and the "down them all" addon. Worked fine.

Thinking more on this... If the download was being corrupted somehow, the OP would never be able to unzip the file. If the file is unzipping without an error, there is something funky going on and it's not a download problem. STRANGE...

7zip flags it with a CRC error , while tugzip didn't for the same file... but failed :/

    edit :

just downloaded again, works fine now.. I rarely have problems with crc errors etc as I have a decent connection.

I un-zipped mine using Winzip 14.5. It did act rather oddly, stalling for quite some time at the end of the extraction. I got tired of waiting, went off, made a coffee and it finished just as I got back.

The installer runs, but as I do not have Dim Pro on the laptop I am travelling with I did not go through the full process.

Just to report the other side of things in that I pleasantly had no trouble at all. I have reasonably quick internet so downloaded the file in 18 mins I think it was, uzipped and installed, working great and some of the samples sound really nice.
Sorry I can't be of any help just wanted to say I had it working no problem so it 'must' be a download problem with your computeR? Not sure.
