Cortez is one of the brands founded by wholesaler Jack Westheimer in the 60s and 70s. His brands included Kingston, Emperador, Cort, Teisco, and Cortez. The Cortez were made in Japan and are considered to be of decent quality.

I tried to reply last night but forgot the SFS thinks the link to the guitar site I linked to is spam and just deletes the post with no message or explanation.

Its value is probably its intrinsic value and nothing more.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Actually, I believe it goes to a special, hidden area where a moderator can approve it and it magically reappears.  Of course, by then, it is now buried and out of context.
