Could someone please post step by step instructions for manual install of DimPro banks?
Trying to install the freebie EB5 bank Mr. Anderton graciously provided us with a while back (not the full paid version). Apparently I'm a complete freaking idiot or something is going weird. I'm following the instructions provided with no joy and it's time to ask ya'll before something goes hurtling through a wall. I have extracted into the supposedly correct locations (Cakewalk > DimPro > Multisamples... etc) and fervently smashed away at the F5 key with the DP patch browser open. I have tried doing this in multiple ways (I won't go into it because it is angering up the gimpo blood), managed to finally get the manual downloaded, unblocked and accessible which was not helpful, so yeah... just need a simple step by step to get the zipped files from my desktop (or wherever) into the right folder and working inside DimPro. Pretend like I am 2 years old because that's pretty much how I feel at the moment. Danca muchly and all pointing and laughing is perfectly acceptable and warranted. ;-)

If the data are in the correct places according to the instructions provided in CAGibsonEB5InstallationInstructions.pdf Try renaming "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\programs.lst" then start DPro.

Okay... so here's the crazy thing. No matter where I looked using the extract folder or just navigating around WinExplorer ProgramData did not exist anywhere. So I just manually typed in ProgramData into the WinExplorer address bar and there it was. I'm guessing this is some kind of UAC thing? I was navigating to the second entry and dropping the samples into the ProgramFiles which is obviously my issue. Anyway... I'm going to see if I can follow the instructions again and I guess I will maybe have to manually drop the exe directly into the ProgramData area to accomplish the first step because the browse function refuses to reveal ProgramData. Thanks... I'll be back. PS: I'm on Win7 Pro. Probably should have mentioned that.

I don't know how helpful this is going to be for you, but here's my story: I bought some DimPro samples a year or so ago, and "installed" them (that is, copied them over) to the correct folder, which I found by using Windows to search for the name of one of my existing, working samples. But no matter how many times I did this, and how many times I refreshed the list of presets in DimPro, the new samples didn't show up. Eventually, I discovered that -- due to a very old custom installation of DimPro -- I had two more or less identical folders full of samples. My current DimPro install was a default one, and was using the default folder, which I had overlooked when I was searching for the right place to copy my new samples. Once the samples were in the right place, easy peasy. Or EZ PZ. Far-fetched, I know (and kind of dumb on my part), but worth a look.

Alright... moving the exe manually into the ProgramData >Cakewalk > Dimpro > etc... area (after physically typing in the address into WinExplorer) THEN extracting (and deleting the zipped folder which remained) THEN hitting F5 in the Dpro browser did it. It also gave me an extra subfolder within the original "real basses" folder which is desirable to me to keep it separated (not sure if the default install would do that but whatever). Now to do it with the other bank. BRB.

ProgramData is a hidden directory. The DPro programs go in a folder in C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\

Welp... Electric Basses are tossing an error no matter what I do (which admittedly isn't a huge amount but still). They have different instructions that don't seem to work so there is obviously some extra trick to getting those buggers working too. The RealBasses EB5 patches loaded fine now and sound good. I'll muck around with the other sample set another day when I'm feeling a little less violent toward the taunting shiny light box. Of course ProgramData is a helpfully hidden by Windows folder and that wasn't worth mentioning in the install doc but I learned something I guess. scook... as always you are a benevolent god around here so thanks muchly. Thanks to Craig for the samples, they sound good (the instructions are infuriating though but can't **** for a freebie and it forced me to poke around strange and scary areas of my whirring electro noise box). Larry... that is definitely relevant and may help others (and may still help me once I get the patience to try again) but I did take a poke around and did not see any duplicate folders. I think I've been pretty careful not to install Dpro more than once (I installed it from my X1 Prod Suite when I first became a customer). One thing that I was apparently mistaken on was I thought DPro (and Rapture) were standalone applications but it seems I can't run either outside of Sonar. Whatever. I learn more when things are being annoying than when they are going smoothly so I'll chalk the past 3 hours up to "suck it up nancy... you learned some crap and got some extra toys". Cheers all. /serenity now

I am not sure which package is "Electric Basses." I am sure with a little more info, it will load too. Both DPro and Rapture have stand alone versions. They are installed beside the dlls.

Yeah, I'll try again tomorrow. I don't think the neurons are firing well enough for me to sort this out right now and another failure will likely be my rage-o tipping point so this is the time when I stop the annoying stuff for the day. Halfway there though. The Electric Basses of the installer seems to just be another pile of samples/programs. Not sure what the difference is between the Real Basses programs because they are of course electric basses as well. I'm thinking maybe they are just really effected samples or something which really I don't need (but would still check out). I'm just always looking for good solid clean bass sounds which is why I went apers on this today. Specifically I actually have a project on the go where I want to try out various bass sounds. Currently using SI Bass as a standin which is working rather well but if I can find something better... well that would be better. Cheers!

Okay... I glossed over this. How exactly do I access these standalones? I can't believe I don't know this (and that they do not have a program launcher in my Programs folder). Zeta+2 is totally there. DPro/Rapture only have docs (that don't work) and uninstallers. Thanks.

Just purchased this the other day and for the past hour I have been going through the Gibson EB5 installation hell also....so a timely thread. In my case the samples are located here: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples\50 - Gibson EB5 Bass Program located here: C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\Gibson EB 5-String Bass But when I open DimPro, open the browser (and refresh with F5) there is no Gibson EB5. So right now I'm stumped!

Excellent. Thank you. @Tunerman... Wish I could help you out more but I'm still muddled on it all and my brain will break if I try to even think about it until a good night's sleep. But I was installing the freebie pack. Not the full pack from the Cake store so maybe the installations are different anyway. Good luck.

Tunerman Program located here: C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\Gibson EB 5-String Bass
On my machine I found the paid version of EB5 in two folders under "03 - Real Basses" called "Gibson EB5 Bass Growl" and "Gibson EB5 Bass Pure." Maybe I moved them there I am not sure.

Longshot but you did extract the files, yes? Just thinking maybe you manually dropped the zipped folders. /not helpful

8 folders filled with note names and 8 sfz files at this location: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples\50 - Gibson EB5 Bass So yes, I think they are unzipped...good thing to check though.

Yup... that sounds extracted to me. I'm all out of my non existent ideas. I'm sure someone smarter can get you sorted. If it's the paid version you could of course give a call to support if all else fails. Toll free in the US. Cheers.

Cold booted the cpu (along with Win updates) for a fresh start. Opened Sonar, opened my existing track with DimPro, browser and F5, and still no EB5 in the program list. Closed Sonar. Found the DP program and ran it in stand alone, and lo and behold, the EB5! I don't know....I'm ready to go the long way and re-download DP from CCC and start from scratch. Did this once already when CCC came out. OTOH, I want to make some music now. If someone comes along this weekend I'm open to suggestions. For now though, I'm going to continue to use the available bass programs and contact CW support on Monday. Thanks all! Michael
