[Cover] "Venus" - Heather Kelle

Hey guys/gals!  We've been working away on an album, so I haven't posted here for ages, but Heather wanted to take a little break and post something to keep up appearances, so we threw together a cover of Bananarama's "Venus".  Hope you like it!

Great job.  I always liked that tune.  You do it great, as usual, CryoDude.

Good disco music! I like the mix and the vocals are just right for this song.

Thanks a lot Warren, Janet, and Karalie!  I just posted a final version with some minor edits that nobody aside from myself probably even notice!

@Janet - I'll try to post here more often, but we're in the process of working on an album, so we're keeping the songs to ourselves until it's done.  Maybe I'll post some snippets here and there, though.

I've always loved this song :-) I'm not enjoying her version as much as banarama. I would definitely like to see Miss Heather in a video...  Nice gams...  ( http://www.word-detective.com/2009/04/24/gams/ )

Some pretty cool effects on the vox. I thought the best part was where she harmonized with herself at 1:05. The mix and production are top notch. And actually, her performance grew on me :-) As I perused her myspace page. It sounds like you did a lot to really make her sound as good as you could, and that takes a lot of talent at the board... And good tools. So overall, excellent work.

Like it a lot!  Great work.  The synth puts the song in 1/2 note beat emphasis.  But usually these kind of song the beat is on a 1/4 note.  The 1/2 note emphasis kind of slows down the dance.

    Hi, Dave,

Great to see you around, buddy, and dynamite job on this cool cover!

Really great performances, pro sounding production, and Heather's voice sounds excellent.  I remember both the Bananarama and Shocking Blue versions of this, and you've really managed to capture the energy of the song and put your own recognizable stamp on it.

    Nice work!

Dave - your link isn't working, I had to copy and paste it into the browswer to get to the song.

this is certainly loud and comrpessed!  but I know that's the way it's supposed to be - dance music!  this is a really nice version!  I  like it a lot - nice vox!  really good all around - nice mix!

Yeah, as Larry said -  the nanas version was already a cover. Always hard to crtiticise your mixes, you seem to pretty much have things the way they should be. I realise that this was just a thing you o"threw together" for fun, but I think it would have sounded better if it were done with a little more of the vibe of the origina - would suit the vox really wel I think. Good job anyhow - just me thinking aloud.
