Crackling with tape emulation vst's

Hello,
I have tried a number of tape emulation vst's and everyone causes a very quiet crackle during playback. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks,
Twarp

Your probably clipping your signal somewhere in your signal chain or your overusing the tape emulation plugin with extreme settings

I've noticed that Slate VTM does crackle when you tweak it a lot. I often have to delete it, and then put it back in with the settings I want. That's the only tape plug I have (except UAD Fatso and Voxengo TapeBus ... but that's different).

Not sure if this is the issue...but some tape emulators draw a fair amount of CPU, so if you do instances on multiple tracks, you may need to increase latency.
