Craig Anderton Mastering workshop at AES

Here is a link to some screenshots from the session. Sorry for the link to Google plus but I don't have the patience to upload individual links :)
Too bad more SONAR users couldnt see this one. It was packed with some cool and practical tips on mastering using all built in SONAR tools especially the prochannel.
Really great presentation from Craig. If you ask nicely maybe Craig will share the powerpoint :)
Anyone who is at AES, Craig is doing some more sessions tomorrow so don't miss them.

    Snapshots are cool and all...but would videotaping the session have been that big a challenge for a roomful of technical heavyweights? 
     
    Well, to be fair that's video, and it is after all an audio engineering society. Maybe a podcast next time...

    I had a video camera but wasn't prepared for a wireless broadcast of the audio :) It looks like that's what a lot of people are doing to cut down on the noise at trade shows. Its cool but makes it more technically challenging to do impromptu recordings, unless you can get a feed from the system. That session was organized by SOS so we weren't involved in it.

    Hi Noel and thanks for the infos.....i have seen the session's photos and i have noticed that in the audio properties tab there is "a tool of satan" but not in my W7 64 bit focusrite Saffire Pro 24 i\o properties.....what is this??

    That warning is about using the internal audio in laptops. Assuming the usual mobo sound chip, you'll find the Tool of Satan if you go Control Panel > Sound, double-click on the default audio, and click the Advanced tab. The checkbox for "Enable Audio Enhancements" should be labelled "Destroy any Semblance of Audio Reality." Or more simply, "Enable Tool of Satan."
     
    Thanks for posting, Noel! I had so many people come up to me and ask for me to do this presentation online somewhere and archive it...guess I need to do it in my spare time LOL.

    Its only present on systems that have not been exorcised :)

    Your workshop from today was really great too - "Keeping the Human Element in the Digital Age: Ways to Keep Music Sounding Alive and Interesting"
    I loved the slide "The seven deadly signs technology has taken over". I missed getting a screenshot of that. I think some of the points there might apply to quite a few folks here :)
