Craig Anderton's Electronic Guitars for Rapture

Yesterday, I tried Craig's directions for setting up Rapture for guitar input...
http://www.harmonycentral.com/articles/31095211

I found myself copying the sound to all the different E1, E2,... so I would have a sound on every one.

So I decided to purchase Craig's Rapture thing from Cake.

So far the sounds are kinda cool, but none of them have all 6 Es used or mostly not many of them and those that do don't work with the guitar setting he recommends in the article above.

So... :-) Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I kinda thought I was buying at least some that Craig had set up for use as he described in the article.

Does anyone have this Rapture addition? Any comments?

I'm sorry the purpose of the Expansion Pack wasn't clear. It was a follow-up to the Minimoog Expansion Pack and designed for keyboard players, not for MIDI guitar. That was before I had the YouRock guitar so i didn't even have a MIDI guitar setup at the time. Also, several of the sounds require more than one element, so just copying elements likely won't give the sound you want.

I hope you still get some use of the sounds...the mod wheel does some interesting things

However, you do raise an interesting point - I really should do a Rapture expansion pack that is designed for MIDI guitar. I could probably find enough material between the Minimoog and Electronic Guitars packs to optimize a bunch of patches for MIDI guitar.

    Again, sorry for the misunderstanding!

Hey! Thanks for answering. I would love some direction on how to advance the guitar stuff in rapture.

Like am I going in the right direction to copy them to the different es?

My biggest problem is every patch I stop on costs me an hour of happy playing so never get far.

Oh. .. If you make the midi guitar expansion pack, I'll find the cash.

A midi guitar expansion pack would be a wondrous thing!  I stumbled across the YouRock guitar a few months ago, and it has greatly increased my ability to use midi. Any new patches that favor this incredible gizmo would be greatly appreciated.

I found some old (and I mean old) posts of mine that are related.  One was geared towards MIDI channel techniques (in Project5, of all things).  The other focused on stealing samples from Dimension Pro, and tweaking them for MIDI guitar use in Rapture.  I've adapted my processes quite a bit since then, but you may find some useful starting points.

You're the man, Tom!  Too bad we don't have P5 anymore.  I learned a lot from you back then.  It would be great to hear from you on the SONAR forums as often as we did on the P5 forum.  At least you haven't abandoned us altogether.

    Take care,

    Craig and B-Rock/Tom,

I'm at the end of a long night of playing. B-Rock, turns out I have piles of Rapture settings that could only be yours. :-) I think they're really fun btw. Hats off and a big thank you.

Craig, All those guitar sounds actually make a nice compliment to my real guitar. I played with them for the last four hours or so (aside from the time messing with the touch screen). I don't regret my purchase even though I was surprised when I first used it.

It's sure to come in handy.
