Crash Dump (Solved)

Still having crashes on my main XP based machine, so I installed X1 Expanded on my windows 7 laptop just to be scientific. Interestingly enough I get the same problem ie:- soanarpdr.exe has encountered etc. but a crash dump is automatically produced and it just asks me if I would like to send it or not and if I want to attach any supporting files. Should this happen in XP also or do I need to turn something on to make it work. ?

Read the dump yourself. Sounds like a driver. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

ask yourself the most obvious question then.
if you want to get really scientific, what are you using on both machines?
    an audio interface maybe?
    a midi device?

its either a bad driver you have saved, the wrong driver,an outdated driver.
a interface that is not compatible with sonar(not your computers)

see this is where it all made sence for me.
when x1 first came out, there was some problems but.and i say but, there were those who were deeming it unusable, well i didnt have any problems?
    so what was it?
x1 came out at a time when windows 7 was fairly new,64 bit was only a year old.
alot of these things come into play.

so if its not working on both computers(or the same error)
its common sence, its something you are using on both computers,a device.
or a driver add on you are installing after the fact.

When you installed X1 on your laptop did you install it, X1, X1a, X1b, X1C, X1expanded and X1d? Did you install the quickfixes?

The quickfixes aren't necessary anymore. I just did a re-install and did not bother with them. I'm hoping I have a stable X1 again.

Chuckwalk. the point of the exercise was to eliminate all those other things. so on my laptop I've installed a Focusrite VRM module as my audio outs. completely different from anything on my XP desktop. so cant think of anything in common between them. Except little ol me.

Guitarpima:- yes I spotted the correct order here on the forum before I tried this out. and was most surprised to get the same fault with everything different. Makes me wonder if part of Sonar got corrupted when I downloaded it. cos its a lot of downloading for shore.

My first install was the downloaded version also. This time I used the dvds I bought along with the download. I'll check back in a few days and let you know how my re-install is going.

Early days yet, but I done a complete Uninstall this morning, re-installed X1 prod - tested no crashes, X1c still testing but no sign of a crash as yet. Will I get Expanded and X1d up and running with no crashes. Watch this space Lol. Really anxious about this but can't rush it.. Pray for me good people.

Did you read the dump? It should give you an answer. No point guessing what the problem is/was if it actually says what it is. You can move on to other things once you've eliminated it.

Strikinglyhandsome. :- I couldn't get the programs to read my minidump file *.dmp but I have a number of Dr Watson dumps, but couldn't see anything in there to help. But my investigations led to it likely being part of one of the downloaded files  so I've been installing them 1 at a time with testing in between x1c still looking good.

There's another method outlined in this thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1799042 if you need to investigate. Obviously if things go all right then there's no need.

I had a crash today. Of all things I believe it is that my AI's mixer was open. Maybe there is a problem with it being open before Sonar. It used to be that Sonar would not access it but after the update for my AI, you can now access it and change things inside Sonar. Or maybe something else. Who knows?

Guitarpima ,Mine crashed yesterday because of guitar rig 4, so need to check that out today, actually managed to read part of the crash file with notepad that said error gr4. I guess we'll both get it eventually.
May the force be with you.

Things are looking good, I've been running with X1d all day without a crash. I did download a fresh copy of Expanded , and X1d in case the others had corrupted during download. (don't remember problem back in X1c days) installed X1d this morning after removing and re-installing guitar rig4.
So if this plays good for the next couple of days I'll mark it solved.
Thanks for all the support people .
