Hi Gary, I've just checked out your new tune... Nice catchy pop song. All sounds fine to me, except for the unfortunate bitrate that wrecks the cymbals (possibly the whole top end...). Any chance of making this available for download, even if only for a couple of hours? cheers andy

Hi Gary, don't do anything yet... It may just be the 128kbps bitrate that SoundCloud converts your file to for streaming. If you go to your SoundCloud page and click on the pencil icon just below the song, it brings up the editing window. From there you click on "Permissions" and the third item along is "Enable downloads." Make sure that it is ticked. I should ask, however, what quality/bitrate do you upload at? I always upload at 320kbps and make my tune available for download. If you are selling your tunes though, you may want to leave the download option turned off. cheers andy

Gary, this is a terrific song. Everything about it is well recorded and performed. This would be a radio-ready hit if only I could hear the bass guitar better. All else is loud and clear. It's that close.

Yeah... My bad... I never picked up on the bass thing, and is probably what is making me think this is a little bit "top heavy," if you know what I mean. Does anyone else pick up on the mp3 low bit rate mashing of the cymbals, or is that just me?

yea....very good job sellin the pop....I think I'd pull back the echo bvox a tad (wrecking ball) great concept but a bit overdone throughout and to up front.......and I think I'd try to add a bit of keys (or something) between the lead parts...just a bit too much space there.... great job....I really like the poppy feel you bring to the tune.

Great tune! Catchy hook. I commented on SoundCloud too. I like the, what sounds like, pulloffs at 2:58. I like the sound of them so much I would have jammed on them awhile but that's me. You did a great job. Vocal is crisp too.

SoundCloud - ugh... SoundCloud crushes our tunes down to 128 with a hammer. If you would like to pull your hair out, AB your .wav and what SoundCloud delivers as a 128 mp3. There should be an option to upload what you want and play in that format. The good news is your tune sounds great but I bet the wav file is even better sounding.

Great song and a nice radio ready mix - I too am hearing the bit rate issues other mention - The top end sounds squashed and 'glassy' (in a bad way) - I Always upload 320K MPS's to Soundcloud and they normally survive their conversion pretty well. All the best Chris - SquareSpiral

This could be a hit , Gary. Great tunesmithing, stellar arrangement except maybe the guitar ride is a bit long IMO. John Mellencampish except you are a better singer. Others have critiqued the mix so I'll just say congratulations on a terrific job on a top drawer tune.............Ron

I would ask if that lead guitar line that comes in towards the end, the one that's nice and loud, but pretty simple - is it just a HAIR flat? Might be my ears, might be worth a check. I listened to your second version - holy cow, great groove. I liked the delayed, "telephoned" vocal effect, particularly on the "wrecking ball" part. Fits perfectly. Big compliments on the lead vocal, great singer! One part you have is kind of a transition from verse to chorus - it's where you are going for a kind of "Eagles" "New Kid in Town" sort of vibe, with the tremolo? I don't think that tremolo helps the groove you have going. That is indeed a tiny, tiny nit to pick!!! Want another even tinier nit? The ending, the electric guitar at the very end, the last chord, finger noises. The acoustic guitar drives the thing from the background. The electric guitars in the background are very, very tasteful. This is SERIOUSLY a good song. Thanks for the sharing of it. Once you get it polished, lemme know when you want my .99 cents. cheers mate, -Tom
