Crash on Launch
A strange problem has occurred in the last few days. I installed Sonar X1 expanded and on launching the splash screen just hangs there. Now here is the strange thing, I reboot the PC and it will launch first time. Short of uninstalling and reinstalling Sonar has anyone else had a similar problem and know how to fix it. Thanks Adrian

Yup, this happens on occasion to me and more frequently after I installed the Expanded version. I think it might have something to do, though I have no way of proving this, with the UA-25EX audio card driver. The only way out of this I've found is to reboot. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an i5 with 8GB of RAM and plenty of drive space. My other more serious issue is that I can't open some of my recent projects that have the Z3TA+ 2.1 soft synth in them. I've posted this on two of the forums and have asked for tech support.

Yep everything updated. Sonar X1 was patched with the latest update prior to expanded being installed. Looks like I will have to go through the reinstall route and see if that cures it. :S

My system's also up to date. Just had another nine Windows 7 updates on October 12, that being only about two weeks after the last batch of updates. I'm beginning to suspect faulty RAM might be the issue as I've had some other random glitches with other programs.

No, its literally click icon to launch and the splash screen just hangs. Sonar is set not to scan at start up and according to task manager the plugin scanner is not running so I know its not that.

Well solved my own problem by using this fix from the tech support section:- If your program will no longer launch, you may be able to resolve the problem by forcing it to re-write some settings behind the scenes. To do so, try taking the following steps: Open the Run prompt by holding down the Windows key on your keyboard and pressing "R" Type in the following: %appdata%\cakewalk Click [OK]. This will open a folder in Windows Explorer. Locate the folder named after your product Right-click on this folder and choose "rename" Change the folder's name by adding the word "backup" to the end of it. For example: "SONAR X1 Producer backup" Close this folder and then open your Cakewalk software When prompted with the message "... will now personalize your user settings", make sure to click [OK] Followed this process and all is okay again, something must have screwed up the first time it personalized my user settings.
