Crash on opening project - sort of a workaround found

Twice lately, I have had a problem with SONAR crashing as soon as a project was fully loaded.
 
In the most recent instance, I discovered that the project would open and not crash only if I opened it by clicking on the .cwp file with SONAR closed.
 
If I tried to open the project from this Start Screen, it crashed every time. The same thing happened if I used Edit|Open and scrolled to the project file.
 
There are a couple of other permutations I need to try. If I learn anything I'll report back.

Windows 10
ASUS X99E WE
Core i7 5960X  
32 GB Corsair DDR4 2133 C13
Fireface UFX USB driver 1.098
GeForce GTX 950

    A crash generates a dump which Cakewalk tech support can read and should be able to tell you what is causing the crash.
