Hello RaBeach - that is an excellent question.
 
I know Reaper is using the ASIO driver.  I will check on SF and NI.
 
Unfortunately, I will be tied up today with other stuff, so I will report back later this evening.

2. I'm not sure why Alex feels he needs to defend an obsolete, and buggy version of Sonar. It is high on my list of probabilities. 


I'm not defending Sonar X2A. There are plenty of bugs in X2A, just have a look at the patches in X3 many must have been in X2, you can also go and have a look at my X3E bug thread. I would recommend upgrading...
 
None of the the issues however will freeze up the operating system for the reasons I've explained in previous posts. If Sonar X2A was at fault I would at least expect the application to crash, the OS to remain stable and at least something in the Windows Event viewer. You need to relate the symptoms to the cause. I can't tell you exactly what it is (I have some hunches from experience however) but I sure can tell what it isn't...
