Creating Midi Grooves

I just received Music Creator 5 for Christmas and I was using the sample Midi Grooves that come with it.  They are very handy just drag a drum clip into a midi track or into the built in Drum synth tool and you have about 2 bars of a drum pattern.  These grooves are simply midi sequences that just have 2 bars with a drum pattern in them.  I thought well it must be easy to create your own by modifying an existing midi clip and saving it under a different name.  I must be doing something wrong because when I save the modified midi sequence under a new name and then try to drag it into my song it doesn't work.  I have saved them as a midi1 as opposed to midi0 and that was just a guess.

Can you create your own midi sequences and save them in the sample content directory and then drag them into your song just like the clips that came with MC5?

that should work just fine.  how are you saving them?  you say you're saving them as MIDI1, but what exactly is it, step by step that you're doing?

Yes your right it does work fine.  I don't know what I was doing but I basically just tried again by saving as a "midi1" format and it worked.  There's a slight problem with it though.  If you take an existing midi groove clip that comes with the sample content and lets say that clip is 2 bars worth of a 4/4.  If you drag one of those next to anther one they are "butted up against each other in the track view.  If I create a drum clip that is 2 bars of 4/4 and do the same there's a slight gap so to speak.  This gap is actually some small fraction of time that appears to somehow exist in the measure.   I read somewhere on this forum about that problem and I don't recall the solution.  It just seems that the clip I create does not have the same amount of time.

It just seems that the clip I create does not have the same amount of time.

Right-click the clip and select Properties.
What is the clip's start time? For the clips to work properly and always line up and be in time, they must start and stop exactly on the beat.
That is, start 1:01:000; end 5:01:000.
If it starts at 1:01:057 the next iteration will be late in starting and it will get progressively more 'off' as the song plays.
If the clip ends at 4:04:032 each iteration will be early. I think...

check your snap to grid settings, too and make sure you're set to measure or something large.  and you might need to zoom in before you drop the 2nd clip and make sure it's lining up correctly.

Export your MIDI file as a MIDI Clip (File->Export->Midi Clip).  This works well.
