Critical listen/Critique needed

Got a Country song I just finished mix & mastering. Please give a listen on your monitors and let me know what you think of it, technically. If you don't like Country music to begin with, no input needed. Recorded @ my studio. Thanks! http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11472673

Can't access sound click main page using iPad.  Can you post the direct link to the song or use soundcloud?

Thanks for posting On soundcloud.  Good sounds and mix.  Song is not pulling me in.  Don't know if it's lyric, vocal, or melody but I feel the production out ways the song.

You have talent and I want to hear more!

Thanks Rimshot. It's a local band I play with (me-fiddle & keys). The singer's 1st attempt at songwriting too. It was kind of thrown together in less than 2 hrs, then I spent 4-5 hrs mixing, fixing & mastering. No one knew the song before we started LOL! More coming soon from the same band.

Your production is pure country, and in a good way.  The guitar and fiddle work together nicely.  The voice is recorded well as are all the performances.  This is the kind of production I would expect to hear from Nashville.  The song itself is kind of a cliche, but it doesn't matter.  Writing lyrics is something that improves with age.  All in all, a good effort.

    All the best,
    Lynn

The stick-across sounds out of place with the rest of the kit. It always bothers the listener when they can hear the snare so crystal clear and the hihats barely at all.

Had trouble distinguishing the kick/bass at times.

    Fiddle sounds great.

Hey James, Thanks! That's the kind of input I am looking for. I'll check out the hats. My ringing tinnitus keeps me from hearing the hats well, so I usually overcompensate. I agree with the stick too; it sounds almost like a woodblock. I need to use a different sample. Lynn, thanks man!
