Curious... if X1c became available tomorrow for download and update, would you...
download and install it ASAP or would you wait a few days to see how it went for others? I will be jumping right on it. I didn't fool around with 255 at all. I did go with 246 and all seems well.

I would as soon as I had the time to check it out properly. I believe that there are always some improvement with an update so why leave it out. And if I get problems I will report it ASAP and then roll back my system. Updates are great! ;)

This is not a quick-fix, it is a well-tested roll-up patch. As soon as it out it will be downloaded and installed!

Being on a software team as my daily gig,
I appreciate the effort in what goes on behind the scenes.
I too, believe the fixes are meaningful. I am still mainly using
8.5.3 for my most serious work, but that is my method.
I want to give X1 a chance after the update.
Most of my workflow is based on the "classic" Cakewalk GUIs.
I toy with X1, then come here to forums to see what you all are
dealing with. But all updates for me, happens soon as they
are released.
Through the years, I believe in Cakewalk response to it`s user base.
I look forward to a better X1 in version C.

It's not going to make X1 'different', but I'm sure it will help... and the sooner I get it the sooner I can have new "suggestions"! ;-)

I will do with X1c the same as what I do with every big update..
I have a test system, where I test every new big update for every piece of software. I is just a second partition on the main computer, but it is used for testing. First I make a back-up to a separate hard disk. This way I can roll back to the pre-test state. Then I apply the update and try everything with a test-project with a lot of plug-ins, busses etc. Next phase is taking a existing project and see if it runs fine and edits fine..
After a few weeks - sometimes less, sometimes more (depending on the outcome of the above tests), I finally apply the update to my "work" system.
This procedure is done with every bigger update from every software company. It does not matter what company. That way I think I have taken enough precautions to keep my systems running. I got used to this practice back in the days when I was working in really big Windows/Novell Netware/UNIX/Mainframe environments, and believe me - I have learned my lessons there!

I found it doesn't really matter when you install - it's either gonna work for you or not. Users have all variety of successes and bugs - no one seems to have the same problems, so no point in waiting to see... Having said that, I may well wait and see :O)

Step #1: download X1c
Step #2: create an image of your c drive using Win 7's included utility or your favorite imaging software (this is the MOST important step)
Step #3: install X1c
Step #4: Make music...
Step #2 will allow you to get back where you were if there are any issues on your system...
