Current WaveShell

Current WaveShell version # is 9.91...that's getting REAL close
to V10, so that might be why all the sales...might want to make sure

I have proposed this a few months ago to thunderous silence. If you have a whole butt load of $29 plugins the WUP is pretty hard to say no to.

It's Bass, not Bass.

Mercury & SSL are WUP'd until 20 Feb 2018
Piano & Keys are WUP'd until 8 Aug 2018
Abbey Road is WUP'd until 31 Aug 2018
Infected Mushroom is un-WUP'd.

I'm going to add another year in the next month or so pushing it all out to 31 Aug 2019.

So if I WUP one plugin, that takes care of all of them?

Not understanding how to get all plugs Wup'd by just updating one/few

You can't, but here's the thing...WUP runs ONE YEAR from the expiration date of the
MOST RECENT PLUGIN PURCHASE, so, if you buy a NEW plugin AND WUP
for all your others it will extend the WUP of all your plugins 1 year from the
expiration of the NEWEST PLUGINS WUP, effectively giving ALL your plugins
2 Years of WUP!!

Live is a 9.7.4 and they make work on 9.7.5.  That may debunk your theory.
I may start to stick with Melda, updates for life and also Izotope.   To WUP all of my Waves is far more than the supposedly $300 is all you pay.  I can think of a lot more and better DAW resources to spend $300.  I think Waves is going to be in a rude awakening when they expect support from hobbyists.

Ahem.

Everyplugin had quoted me $159 to WUP it all. That is about what I pay every 18 months. If I'm fortunate to pick up an "extra" somewhere along (for a small price) that usually amounts to about two years of WUP for the price of one discounted year. The last wup I purchased was April 19, 2016.

I could actually wait until Feb 20, 2018 (Mercury expires) and then WUP and be covered for everything until August 31, 2019 (Abbey Road + 1 year).

Depending on my Christmas bonus I'll either WUP in Dec or Jan.

Now I can see if you own a small amount of plugs or a low cost bundle where up to $300 for WUP is foolish even if it is at the Everyplugin discounted price.

In theory yes. It should be no different than X1 vs Platinum.

However, make sure your installer(s) are well saved because at some point Waves may no longer host them.

Let me make sure I fully understand this.

So, if the Waves plugin version number switches to version 10, are you saying it may be possible that I may not be able to use my Waves products that are from version 9 unless I extend my WUP for my plugins whose WUP plan has expired before Waves version 10 shell is installed on my DAW?

Right now my total cost is $357.00 to update WUP for all of my plugins. If I uncheck all plugins whose WUP doesn't expire until 2018, then my WUP update charge is $307.30, that is still costly!

Is this something I truly need to do, or is there a cheaper option?  Can I update WUP via Everyplugin.com for a reduced price using a code?

That sounds about right. If you own everything Waves it would be from them $300. It's those small bundles that kill ya. When you have that top bundle it's not so bad plus you get plugins if they release them during your WUP. If I buy the Gold WUP I get 3 more plugins.

I could be wrong but pretty sure that you'll still be able to use you v9's.
The only v9 plugins you'll be able to upgrade to v10 will be those with an a non-expired WUP.

Also keep in mind that version numbers aren't like currency based numbers in a cash register.
The next version after 9.99 isn't 10.00 it's 9.100, 9.101. 9.102, ..., 9.999, 9.1000, 9.1001, etc..
I've seen minor update numbers for some applications go into 4 digits (eg XX.1278) - depends on how they handle their builds and versioning systems. At some point Waves will make a marketing decision to roll out v10.  Maybe when they (if they) reskin their older apps.

How can I get those installers? The only installer we have is Waves Central. Right?

Yes, my bad. Sorry.

I was having a V8 flash back. I'll have to go with V9 should always be available via Waves Central even after V10.

Considering Waves lets users download back to V6 still, I'd say there isn't any reason to worry.  Worst case they make it so you can't mix V9 and V10 at the same time.  If they were to do that (not likely), you'd either have to skip/not update any V10 products you have (due to still being under WUP) or purchase WUP for everything.  Waves will likely come up with some sort of solution.  They do have big problems though with this round, since there isn't any operating system reason you need to upgrade.  That's going to make it a hard sell.  Just adding new UI improvements to their older legacy plugins is going to be a lot of work for them.

That sounds familiar.  Does Waves sell Gear Credits?

I'll get Bapu's coat ...

LOL!!

LOL indeed! Actually you can't buy WUP with Gear Credits but you can with Jam Points. But only 30% of the Jam Points go toward the WUP and the voucher only gets you 30% of the most recent Gear Credit purchase toward the WUP or the Gear Credits, which ever comes first. That doesn't sound right, let me start over... If you're on a train in Cleveland...

However, make sure your installer(s) are well saved because at some point Waves may no longer host them.

How can I get those installers? The only installer we have is Waves Central. Right?

Using WC, you can create a Off-Line Installer. You could make one, use it to verify it works correctly and installs everything right, and back that up.

I would advise to run the installer you create and check ALL your plugins to make sure they are working. I have had times where I thought it was all installed and when I went for a certain plug that I knew I had, it wasn't there. Long story short, support suggested to create another Off-Line Installer and see if that works. Sometimes some of the individual installers get corrupted they said.

You know, now that Waves is into the $29 plugin big time the voucher for the WUP is a lot more usable. I was never tempted to spend $150 for a $199 plugin but $7.50 off a $29er is a good thing. Actually $23 or so at the discounters, not $29.

Waves WUP is CAPPED at $300...you have to make sure
you're checking THIS Check box..

I hereby confirm that I run all products on one machine at a time

Once you do that, the price will be adjusted to the capped amount
- 25 % (sale) $225

And STILL Cheaper to go with EveryPlugin
