Custom Module : User Selected Icons + Tooltips

I doubt that CW are mindreaders but I had written up a request for a custom Control Bar module before the latest release and was pleased to see the inclusion of the Custom Module. Must have been a good idea. However, they stopped a little short of an optimal solution.

I would have gone with a tight 9 x 9 display of user selected icons.

1. User selectable icons.
- Simple dialog to select an icon.
   - Much like selecting track icons
- Simple dialog to assign supported commands
   - Exactly as implemented in the latest release.
- Icon criteria much like creating icons for Windows apps
   - Guidelines for size, resolution
   - Any color, design, symbol, meaning you want.

2. Text support through tool tips
- No issues with getting the best text based description to fit.
- Most efficient use of screen real estate.
- Welcome relief if you are a native German speaking user
- Maybe support a little larger font?

No effort with what any icon means since it is user selectable.

No problem with implementing more than a 9 X 9 matrix, but i'd rather have something much sooner than just a little more capable.

For added value, Sonar could ship with two included icon sets
1. A nice clean set styled after the X series
2. A retro pack from the 8.5 release for those who really, really, really like 8.5.

Or maybe include it as a membership benefit.

Or perhaps Panup will beat them to it.

Personally I'm glad they stopped where they did. Less is more.
The simplest thing that can possibly work. I like it.

But there are some upcoming enhancements in the pipeline for the Custom Module, so I'm told.
