I'm sure that is one of the issues they said they would fix so let's hope so. It is an issue for me too. I tried installing anyway but it failed with an error message half way through so I'm going to wait for an installer that gives a custom install and try again then

For me this is a showstopper, too. I let my SPLAT as it is, no need to install the new version even I am curious. But a custom installation is requirement.

Definitely! I would particularly like being able to install sample/loop/clip data in a different drive apart from program installation drive (C:/). I also miss the old days for having the options to install or skip particular components like plug-ins that SONAR had when we installed off of CD ROMs (not just groups of stuff), not to mention what versions to install (32bit vs 64bit). Kind regards, tecknot

Maybe the Bandlab Team should have waited more time instead of launching and unfinished product. I understand that it is an "early access" release and it is free (which is truly great) but not having a custom installation path option is a real problem. Also, there is a lot of misinformation about the future of the Cakewalk. Anyway, I don't care about all of this cause I am a hobbyist but if I were a professional I will distrust of a DAW with an unfinished official web page, a hasty release and an unclear business model. I hope that Meng and his team won't dissapoint with the highly expected Cakewalk roadmap.

+1 a DAW in professional platform is not a play thing. They don't even have some kind of installation notes prepared. You have to get into the forum and read a 20 pages thread to understand what the hell is happening. This whole thing bugs me.

They didn’t give you the option for custom install paths ,they added a startup entry without asking ,I already don’t think that much of them .poor practice in my opinion.

Without custom installation path, it's my key reason that I have not updated my Splat to CbB. Please take your time to polish the new version and get very things ready including the documentation and marketing, etc. I wonder why Bandlab follow Microsoft to do the insider test version. Just my thoughts.

Maybe I missed someting. But if any other person looks: I made a first install of Bandlab CW last weekend (May 2018). I installed almost all modules except melodyne. Summarize: Nearly all components allowed to choose installation path. Except Studio Instruments.... Hope this will also be made customizable soon. Also the TH3 for cakewalk was on c: So if anyone is interested, it now works (maybe I overlooked this somewhere else, but I think it is usefull to append this info in this thread. cheers & thank you Bandlab

"Summarize: Nearly all components allowed to choose installation path. Except Studio Instruments...." As far as I remember Studio Instruments has never allowed the user to choose the installation path. Its a "niggle" to be sure, but hardly a "show stopper"; for me at any rate. T

Exact. Thats the reason why I updated the thread. Now it is customizable, that is the essence from my second post. That SI & TH3 never was customizable does not mean, this cannot be changed. I get more & more the impression, the Bandlab Team is high motivated to make the quality much much better as it was. So I have the hope, they will make the complete package customizable, because it makes sense. Why should you clean up the house and leave the dirt in the cellar :-) ?
