Cutting in cakewalk?

Maybe someone here can tell me, how can I cut out a part of WAV file in Cakewalk? I have converted MP3 file into WAV because my Cakewalk cannot open MP3 files, just MIDI and WAV. So I would like to delete a part from this WAV file, and save it so, and then convert WAV back to MP3, so I can make audio CD. I would appreciate details about cutting WAV files, since I am not terribly good with Cakewalk interface, but I would like to edit this particular file, by deleting a part of it. Perhaps another editing program has a simpler interface?

I use MP3 direct cut, as it avoids converting to WAV and back to MP3, although its interface takes a little getting used to.

To do it in SONAR (or HS), you need to use the cut tool to cut up the clip that contains your WAV. Then delete the part you don't want, and drag the remaining parts so there is no gap between them. When you have finished you will need to do an export to WAV.
