DAW Working (was) Fader Port no fader movement, VS-100 fader works, nothing else does.

After spending a couple of days trying to get the FaderPort to work, I finally gave up.  Google was not my friend.  I ordered a V-Studio 100.  It seemed to work at first, but after installing the last of my DAW software I could not get Sonar to run any longer, and the VS-100 quit working, almost.  The slider does follow something, or is haunted.

I did update Sonar to 2a and it's back to working, but the VS-100 control surface is not talking to Sonar.

Is it really this hard to set up a DAW?

And finally what is up with this forum software and Firefox?

did you down load the vs 100 win drivers on line ?

    http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/product.aspx/V-Studio-100

there may be an extra download there for added support for the x2 versions, like firmware. I don't know.
get your drivers on the site and not the disk.
    and computer specs ?
without an os version and some specs ..its like asking me what kind of gasket you need for a car..."what kind of car?"..
i dont know, just a car.
did you also set it up in preferences under control surfaces?

Thank you for the link.  I double checked and I have the latest software.

The Shucks guy used to ask me "what kind of car?" all the time.

I did set up the preferences, but I cannot get the Connected Controller/Surfaces In Port and Out Port to save in Sonar Studio x2.  It all works fine in Sonar VS.  It kinda works in Studio 1.

    Back to troubleshooting.

My local music store had Korg nanoControl in the sale bin, so I grabbed it.  I can't get it to work, either.  It seems there is no MIDI traffic coming from the nano.

It would seem to me the easiest test would be to plug the device in and check to see if there is MIDI traffic going back and forth.

For troubleshooting I've change ports, tried it in Windows 7 and Windows 8.  I have a laptop with XP on it, time to hook it up to that.

Part of the problem is I'm not getting a consistent failure.  The only thing consistent is that my old Hercules DJ Console works.

I posted my problem with the FaderPort in the PreSonus forums and got a a reply with a fix and it is now working. +1 for PreSonus.

I'll work on the rest over next weekend.
