DELETE a Meausure or Measures?

How come there is not a simple Delete Measure?  It is a simple task to Add a measure.

In the track view, do this:
    1. If you want to delete it from just some of the tracks, select those tracks using shift (EDIT: Or CTRL).  If you want to delete the measure from all tracks, hit CTRL+A.
    2. Use the time bar at the top to click-drag to select the measure itself.  The rest of the project should deselect, leaving only that measure selected.
    3. Edit menu -> Delete Special.  You can select what elements to delete, and also check the "Delete Hole" box to remove the hole it left behind.

Delete Hole is often problematic and doesn't work as expected in some conditions (well documented on this forum). Sonar does need a more reliable and logical way to delete time.

Yeah, after I got to thinking about it, I remembered why I try to never delete areas mid-score unless absolutely necessary.
The other way to do this:
Follow the steps above but don't check the "delete hole" box.  Back in the track view, select all (CTRL+A), then put your now time marker at the beginning of the section AFTER the deletion (the right-hand side of the hole).   Go to Edit menu -> Select -> Thru = End.  The portion of the project before the deletion should un-select, with everything in all tracks after it selected.  Use the smart or move tool to move the clips over manually to close the gap.

This isn't perfect either though... I've found it unpredictable if there are automation envelopes on the tracks.

    Hello,
I also have problems with deleting measures via "Delete Special".

I made a very simplified example:

I want to delete measures 4-6 from both tracks "test1" and "test2".
For this I highlight the tracks on the left plus the measures above the clips and use "Delete Special" with "Delete Hole" activated.
But instead of deleting the measures and moving the two blue clips "3" leftward to the beginning of measure 4, the result is as shown in measures 13 to 21.
Measures are not deleted in all tracks but only in track "test1" were I had put a "delete dummy clip" named "1".
And the length of the deleted measures doesn't equal the highlighted length (3 measures) but the length of this clip "1" (one measure).
What is wrong with what I am doing?
To my understanding I am doing as described in the docu and it also used to work like that until only a few weeks ago?
    Any ideas?

You are not doing anything wrong - delete hole has been broken for some time.  If there is no data in a track it fails to delete the the measeres and move the other clips accordingly. There has been no word on a fix, but apparantly ripple edit is in the works to be released some time soon.

I will try this as an alternative. A few questions before:
    • Will the delete work when it is in-between continuous clips? Let's say, I have a clip from measure 1 to 4 and want to delete measures 2 and 3, will the delete command automatically cut the clip at the right points? Or do I have to do this manually beforehand?
    • What about markers: If "Delele Special" worked correctly, it would also move the markers forward. Does selecting and moving all the clips after the delete section also include the markers? I don't think so, and if not, how can I move all the markers? I just know how to move one marker at a time. Is there a way to select all markers and move them all in one?
    Thanks

Thanks for the hint. I wasn't aware of that and kept going crazy about trying and trying (I always used "delete hole" until "some time" ago and it was working okay and I couldn't find out what I was doing different now).
Anyways, I was searching for "delete measures" and couldn't find much. I will now check the posts about "delete hole" and see what is going on.
