DIMENSION - MULTIPLE INSTRUMENTS WITHOUT MULTIPLE INSERTIONS ?

Hi,
Can anyone help me with this please?
Can different instruments in DIM PRP/LE be used in different tracks without the synth having to be inserted each time? As in with say TTS1 as opposed to Studio Instruments for instance?
Many Thanks, John.

DimPro/LE is pretty much one instrument-one track. The vast majority of soft synths will behave this way, however there are exceptions, such as TTS-1, SampleTank, and Proteus.
The synth GUI will generally make it obvious whether or not a synth supports multiple tracks within one instance.
With contemporary computers, multiple instances should not be a problem.
Even my aging P4 system does ok up to a point.

    Thanks for that Robert!
Wow, I thought it would do multiple instances. Hmm. I assume it's a lot heavier on memory etc? My PC is quite old and using WIN XP. It also clutters up the track view doesn't it! I prefer the TTS system but I didn't think much of the sounds when I had it in an old version of Producer. I have X1 LE now. I really would like to upgrade to Essential or one of the better versions but I don't think my PC would handle it very well.
Have you any experience of DIM PRO/LE as regards what the sound quality is like?
    Thanks Robert, appreciate the help!
    Regards, John.

You can do multiple instances with DimPro/LE. You just can't get several instruments form one instance like you can with TTS-1.
I am also using an XP system that is a bit long in the tooth, but it still does ok. See my specs below.
RAM is very important when you have several synths loaded. If you don't have enough, you can run into problems.
I have 1 Gb, which can get a little tight on a big project. 2 Gb would be significantly better. XP (32 bit) supports  up to 3 Gb RAM.
What are your system specs? If you can include them in you signature, that helps us help you.
I prefer DimPro to Dim LE, because it offers much more depth of control, as well as a much larger sample library.
In my experience, most sample libraries have a few dogs, but for the most part, I am quite pleased with the sound of DimPro.
This particular tune includes sounds from DimPro, Sampletank, and Studio Instruments.

If you freeze synth tracks that you are not actively working with, you can minimize the stress on your system.
Also, when you are mixing, you can back your latency way out, to say, 100 ms. This gives the CPU a little breathing room.

    Thanks Robert, appreciate that.
I'll have to check my specs but I think it's p4 and 1gig of ram similar to yourself.
Cakewalk recommend upgrading from X1LE to essential but I'm not sure how my PC would do with that, although I do think it makes sense and I'd love to get ess or studio or producer, might be my next big purchase along with a new PC :-)
Your track sounds great, you clearly have good use of it all! Am I right in saying St.Inst. doesn't have a tambourine? :-) I opened a midi file in X1 and it had Tamb in it but wasn't played.
Appreciate all the help, many thanks! J.

TTS-1 has a tambourine, and is very memory/cpu efficient, and is 16 part multi-timbral, outputting to 4 separate output channels

The sounds aren't as polished as Dimension Pro, but quite useable

LOL. That tambourine is actually from DimPro. I had to play with it a bit to get the soft shake, but DimPro is pretty flexible.
The hammered dulcimer is also from DimPro.
As far as the upgrade X1 Essential runs ok here.
You would have to get X2, as X1 is no longer available.
It should be fine (at least the 32 bit version of Essential, and maybe Studio), even though XP is not officially supported. And your license would extend to your new computer, when you get it.
You would be able to use the soft synths included with X2 in X1LE, if you needed to. The LE version is capable, it just doesn't come with any extra stuff.
TTS-1, in particular, would be useful. It is a General MIDI synth, and is a good choice for playing downloaded MIDI files.
Anyhow, you have options, and room to grow.
