DPC Latency Tool For Windows 8 ?

Hi all.

What are you using to check the DPC Latency in Windows 8 ?

I hear DPC Latency Checker has issueswith windows 8....

Are you all using LatencyMon or is there other programs out there that are worth a look ?

I've heard the same thing about DPC latency checker, but don't know the issue.

    LatencyMon is what I use.

Mainly I use it when there is a new video driver install because I once had problems between firewire and video due to some driver.

    According to this:

    http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml

"Windows 8 Compatibility - The DPC latency utility runs on Windows 8 but does not show correct values. The output suggests that the Windows 8 kernel performs badly and introduces a constant latency of one millisecond which is not the case in practice. DPCs in the Windows 8 kernel behave identical to Windows 7. The utility produces incorrect results because the implementation of kernel timers has changed in Windows 8 which causes a side effect with the measuring algorithm used by the utility. Thesycon is working on a new version of the DPC latency utility and will make it available on this site as soon as it is finished."

When I had win8 installed, the DPC latency checker had aprox. 1000us constant latency. Which would not be correct :)

Latency Mon works fine in win8, and also shows you the potential issue (driver, process, program)

I had so large issues with my FW driver and Nvidia driver in Win8 that I had to go back to win7 :(

Resplendence has a pretty good one that is much more detailed than dcplat.

It is compatible with Windows 8 and shows which driver produces the largest latency.

    I had exactly that issue - firewire+Nvidia.

You can try some earlier releases and find the one that works best. No need to revert to Win7.
