DSK BassZ vsti is Out of Tune

Decided to try some VSTi and soundfont bass sounds.  One I downloaded was the DSK BassZ VSTi.
It works and has some interesting sounds BUT it consistently plays about 1/2 step high.  There is no adjustment for pitch.

My other VSTi's and soundfonts play correctly.

Anyone else using the DSK BassZ plugin and seeing the correct or incorrect pitch?

I don't find that surprising. I recall listening to the demos of those VSTs and downloading some of them (mainly the synth ones). I didn't find them anywhere near the level of free VSTs such as Native Instrument's KONTAKT Player, which, I believe, has an electric and acoustic bass (http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/kontakt-player/) and Independence Free (http://www.yellowtools.us/cp21/cms/index.php?id=842). There are some other freebies out there too, but these two are well worth having (I own KOMPLETE 7, which includes the full KONTAKT 4, but I have KONTAKT 4 Player installed on my office PC and think it's very nice for a freebie). You might also want to pick up SampleTank Free for 200 more instruments: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/sampletankfree/features/.

I'm giving up on DSK BassZ.

I've gotten the Kontakt player and their factory selection of sounds.  Thanks for the link edrummist!  Experimenting has begun - works fine in SHS7.

Larry, there are a ton of good bass libraries out there. Consider getting the full Kontakt to tap into that treasure trove. Yeh, it's a significant chunk o' change upfront, but it opens up a whole new world of inexpensive sample libraries and can actually save you money in the long run.

That's because vendors who create libraries for the free player have to pay a steep license fee to NI for the privilege and pass the cost on to the consumer. Consequently, you can often substitute a player-based library with an equivalent full-Kontakt library for half the price or less. Buy two libraries and you've justified the cost of Kontakt. And there a bunch of good libraries out there for $50 and under.

The reason I bring this up is that my favorite basses (and pianos) are full-Kontakt libraries.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

My favorite basses are the NI Scarbee Pre and Jay basses, they give you a large amount of control over articulations (Sustain, harmonic, mute, hammer on, pull off, slide etc.) either by key switching, or by the way you play (the sustain pedel triggerd slides are great). They do not need the full version of Kontakt, but I agree with bitflipper that haveing the full version of Kontakt opens up a a vast range of options to obtaing some very good (and cheap) sounds.

I also get a fair bit of milage out of the YellowTools Majestic basses.
