DSK Synth plugin still referenced by system

Hi all,

Running Sonar X3e on Windows 7 64 bit.  I was playing around those DSK Synth plugins - but they're all 32 bit, and once I installed them and my VST plugin scan found them,  my system started to get unstable with a lot of crackles and pops.   So I deleted all folders and items that referenced the DSK synth plugins.

And I did a full VST plugin re-scan after that;  I don't see them in any list of plugins.   But when I open the project in Regular or Safe Mode,  Sonar *still* says that my project references the DSK plugins and the crackly pops and distorted playback continues.  How do I really get rid of the plugin and those messages, so my system will play nice again.   thanks for your help -ryan

Firstly, it's unlikely that merely finding VSTs will make your system run any differently. Maybe having them inserted in a project can make a difference, however. Usually that's just about CPU usage being too high. So if the plugins truly are gone, then you probably have a different problem. (eg. Background tasks consuming CPU, driver latency set too low, etc.)

Secondly, if you didn't remove the plugins from the project before you deleted them from your system, then sure, when you load the project Sonar will tell you that the plugins are still being referenced. You need to remove the references from the project (eg. delete them from the FX bin or the Synth Rack).

Thirdly, did you uninstall them properly? Sometimes people just delete the shortcuts and don't realise that they're not deleting the whole software. If you install something with an installer then you need to uninstall it the same way - this usually means going to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features (or whatever the Win 7 equivalent is) and removing the software from there.

Those DSK plugins are just .dll files with no installer.  So I just deleted them out the directory.   I think they're still referenced in the synth rack.  How do I remove them from there?

You might need to undock the synth rack, but from there just highlight the synth and hit the 'X'
