DXi2 or the operatic production
i was having some computer issues with Music Creator 3: it wouldn't change instruments and when i clicked new it wouldn't give me the options it use to give before, but only two. i decided that the best thing was to unistall the program and re-install it again. i don't remember having any problems installing when i bought it, but then i have short memory problems (or isn't long memory? , i don't remember when i istalled this). so i unistalled it with no problems, but of course re-installing has become an operatic production. after i figured out what to do all by myself, the computer begins to load what it needs from CD-ROM 1 but when i gets to 29% percent it stops. it seems to be missing the DXi2 program. i though it was there but when i looked under CONTROL PANEL>ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, DXi2 is listed but it has no numbers, you now how many gigabites or megabites is taking in the memory (it doesn't say anything). when i activated it from a disk i had copied it into some time ago it said that it wasn't number 9.0 and it needs number 9.0. when i said yes install it, it didn't do anything. what now?

when you say that you said yes to install it and "it didn't do anything" - exactly what do you mean by that? do you mean the install stopped or froze up or closed or what? there was a Direct X problem with older versions of MC, I haven't looked for that in a long time, I'll have to go find the fix for it and get back to you.

It's possible that you're running into this DirectX 9.0 issue. Please let us know if running this utility helps at all.

i downloaded the Direct Utility and installed in my computer. i put the CD on the computer to re-install. when it gots to 29% it stopped and opened two windows. Window number 1 says: Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. Window number 2 says: Could not execute the external program C:\PROGRA"1\Cakewalk\CAKEWA"1\DX1\Dreams"1\SETUPD"1.EXE. this is what it has been doing all along. stopping at 29% and coming up with those two messages. i am the only user of my laptop, the computer recognizes me as the administrator. i have no idea what window number 2 means or how to resolve it. Would it have something to do with Norton Antivirus? I installed it recently with no problems. the first time i installed MC i didn't have Norton Antivirus on the computer. as always, thank you for your help. sirena del mar
