Dammit, I'm addicted to a smartphone game again :(
I got hopelessly addicted to this game last year and didn't stop until I'd finished all of the hundreds of levels (including all of the available add-on level packs). Stupidly, I launched the thing during an idle moment the other day and am now hopelessly addicted again, redoing all the levels I've done before. I hate bleepy shooty fantasy type games but this just grabbed me so hard I was totally helpless. It's called Blendoku and it's all about blending colors smoothly into each other. I had no idea I had such a finely tuned eye when it comes to hue, but apparently I do.... You have been warned....

I was addicted to one of those crystal matching games called Jewels on my tablet a few years ago. It had a worldwide database of scores with only nine players over 1 million. Six were in the 1,000,000 range, two in the 2,000,000 range and one was in the 3,000,000's (see below). I just reset my tablet to sell it and completely forgot to take a picture of where I got to (and was still going! I'm sure I could have racked up a lot more points if I cared to). I killed the game with a score over 4,700,000! Below is a picture when I wasn't even half-way to that total... Oh well!

Meant to add, I guess you could say I have some addiction to the solitaire game Freecell. I play it whenever I'm sitting in a doctor's office waiting for my mom, when I'm in the restroom or when I want to unwind before going to sleep. I've got almost 2,500 wins with my quickest being under two minutes (1:55).

Those jewel games are dangerous. Virtually everyone I see gaming on the subway is playing one. Freecell, I got very addicted to that a few years ago. Have you tried playing with 3 or even 2 cells?

I used to run game servers for Quake 1 and Counter Strike (with occasional others like Team Fortress). Out of over 340,000 Quake 1 players worldwide I was ranked in the top 25 (looks great on a resume! ). I was also in an online league for Counter Strike where I had one squad of a clan and my friend had another. We ended the league at #1 and #2 (my team was #1). We loved beating punk kids half our age (or less). My server was listed the second most popular game server on the West coast (called n2o's Gas House). It was fun, but I don't miss it. I actually prefer first person shooters that you can play by yourself.

I'm sure they're part of the 250 game pack I've got. I just like knowing that every game IS winnable. I'm not sure if that's true with only two or three cells... My longest game went well over an hour but that was a definite exception, the second longest was about 45 minutes. I doubt I'd stick with a game that long if I knew some couldn't be won.

It's no different from playing any other kind of game or puzzle. You don't have to play while you're walking. The fact that it's on a phone is really of no consequence at all.

For some reason I almost hate playing on a phone. I also have a limited taste elsewhere as Counter strike source is the only game I like to play on PC. Although I must admit I have not tried any new games in years(on pc) except Guildwars 2, which I enjoyed for a couple of hours then I got bored. There is a game coming called City of Titans that I expect a lot from. It is a kickstart mmorpg project that is based on the past great City of Heroes which I thought was the best game. Sorry this was a bit OT.

Thanks Sharke, I'll check out Blendoku.......looks interesting. So far, I'm not addicted to any Smartphone games (yet).....although I did buy my LG G3 with playing games in mind (I rarely use it to talk on....LOL). The PC game that I am totally addicted to is Team Fortress 2 (in multi player mode). The game play/mechanincs are awesome/well designed and it's always challenging to meet up with better players than you.......I make it a personal challenge to take them out (before being taken out) :) I have a "best of collection" of soooo many good games that I have yet to play: Skyrim, Borderlands 1 & 2, Tomb Raider, X-Com Enemy Within etc....around 60+ games, but of course TF2 is my go to every night........it's also free on Steam.

I don't know what it is but I just cannot get into those big fancy complex games with "real" graphics. I think at one point after Playstations first came out, I decided I hated console controllers and console games. Too many buttons and controls to learn. And the more realistic the gameplay became, the less interested I was. Funny that. I think I preferred the wacky abstract worlds that you got lost in with less sophisticated computer graphics. There is one 3D game that I played heavily however and that was Battlefield 1942. Used to play it at a friend's house maybe 12 years ago. It was the first online multiplayer game I'd played and it just seemed amazing at the time, very playable.

Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 3 were given out for free on Origin and both are in my account.....(still have to play it though). Origing has been giving out freebies on a regular basis (lately.......trying to compete with Steam??) and I won't be surprised if these might be still available or possibly sometime soon (not sure). You might like TF2 as it's not realistic at all (graphics wise) and the controls are simple (up/down/left/right on the keyboard and the mouse). I do enjoy nice/smooth graphics during gameplay and my HIS 7870 does a fantastic job on 1920x1080.

My wife's addicted to Candy Crush - or whatever the latest incarnation of it is out there. Me I never liked games that much - real, virtual, board, cards, whatever... One exception was the Castlevania series on Nintendo/Super Nintendo. And maybe pinball. I always told myself that the first stupid thing I'd do if I made tons of money would be to buy my own KISS pinball machine. For some people it's a private plane, or tanks with sharks in them, or a limousine and a chauffeur. For me, it's a pinball.

I had Monopoly on my phone at one point. Boy what a rip. The computer players would very conveniently land between my hotels every time, and I'd land on theirs with each roll of the dice. Plus they'd get all the cool Community Chests and Chances.

I've been seriously addicted to a few of the old arcade games in the past When I had my snooker club, we used to do a good trade with a couple of high-jackpot fruit machines (slots) for the adults, and video games and pintables for everyone. To increase the profitability further, we stopped renting them after a while and started buying them (second-hand) from a firm down in Bristol that reconditioned them. The only benefit we lost by doing this was that we had to learn how to fix them ourselves, although we did manage to... ahem..... 'secure the services' of one of the engineers who worked for the company we'd previously rented from for a small appearance fee! Another bonus of this way of working was that we got our own operators licence and were able to rent out gaming and amusement machines to others, always being careful to undercut the local competition. Plus, once the machines had run their course, we used to sell them back to the reconditioning firm. Pintables always did well, as did the fruit machines, but I remember a couple of arcade games in particular that were real gold mines for a while. First was the multi-cartridge PlayChoice-10. We bought one pre-loaded with Super Mario Bros 1 2 & 3, Dr Mario, Track & Field, Golf, Bowling, Tennis plus a couple of shoot-em-ups as I recall. The beauty of the PlayChoice was that you didn't buy credits by adding coins, you bought time. Our friendly engineer even managed to 'borrow' new cartridges for us every now and then The other game we did well with was the original four player Gauntlet. The concept here was even better in that cash was exchanged for 'life force'; when this ran out, your game was over. With four separate coin-slots, one for each player, and with levels allowing players to attack each other (in addition to the game's antagonists), this was a real winner for a while.

My dad had a cafe for a while when I was a kid, and he put two games in there - Asteroids and Battlezone (the tank game with the green wire frame graphics). He would open them up at the back and press something to give my brother and I hundreds of free credits to keep us quiet. I still think Asteroids is one of the greatest all time games. But I remember getting a headache after the 50th game or so.
