Darkness before the Light - Radio Pop (crits)

Hi everybody,

I finished a demo of a song that a chorus came into my head last week "Darkness before the light", its a pop/dance track and I basically wanted something  to compete with radio. Can you have a listen and let me know what is missing, and as blunt as you like, where it fell down, mixing pitfalls, weak parts of the song, sample choices, amateur giveaways etc

Thank you,

Cian

    Cian,

Very good arrangement.   The only suggestion I have would be to maybe add an acoustic guitar to the chorus.  Maybe a synth pad behind the piano.   Like this example:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiKVjS3gR88

    Great song.

    Regards

Hi Cian, great song, mix and, of course, vocals. This is really subjective but I think a stronger snare sample would make the tune more powerful. Sounds great as is, though.

Excellent vocal Cian, the snare sounds more brush than stick to me.  Good mix, thanks for sharing.

Great singing as usual, Cian. Lovely vocal echoes in the background. Really tastefully mixed.

Vocals are well presented (I can hear every word, unlike some songs these days) and recorded. Not in my studio at the moment but listening to the tune on my surface pro 4 and the mix sounds nice and clear on these crappy speakers. It certainly has that commercial sound.

    Thanks guys.

Tweaked the last mix with some different lyrics and doubled a snare sample with more low end on it

Nice one, Cian!   Very clean production throughout, and yeah, the vocals sound great.   For me it has a bit of that authentic Irish vibe to it even though it's dance/electronic oriented.

Apologies for bumping this up again, but made quite a few changes to this and want one last  few tweaks before I send it off for review for a particular event

    Thanks,
