Daughter

Hey everyone seeing as I have been an on-off member of this forum for a few years thought it would be nice to announce the birth of my daughter.

I am now a dad, and therefore my appearances will probably be even less as i try to work out how the hell i am going to fit music into my new life.

On the upside my new studio is now sound-proofed so at least I have somewhere to put her when she gets too loud :)

Take care y'all

I don't think that soundproofing my studio is going to make that much difference to my life, however i have high hopes for the auralex that's on order.

    Still thanks :)

Thanks musicman, I hoped you'd be on.

Funny you should mention the Liquid mix, i just ordered a spanking new I7 machine 64 bit so I am going to have to upgrade the drivers, I am not looking forward to that. However its interesting the re-build of my studio that was going quite fast before daughter is grinding to a halt at the moment. Oh I moved house as well, part of the reason for my absence over the last 6 months is that I was manically trying to renovate the entire place in time for the little ones arrival

Thanks for you're kind words and you too Steve

As to the sound-proofing.   That is not going to help you papa.   Ya see, the frequency of a babie's cry just so happen to be the frequency where the human ear is most sensitive.

So, even if you have NRC panels with a .9 rating, you will still hear you beautiful new child crying out for her papa.   Ain't mother nature grand.

Congrats, man!  By the way, even if your soundproofing manages to block your daughter's dulcet tones, there is no force in the universe that will protect you from the sound of her mother's voice.

Ah this is awesome Gordon! Congrats and I'm envious! That's one thing I always hoped for...kids! But, I'm old fashioned...I have to be married for that and well, if you don't find the right one, you don't have kids...at least that's how I feel. Best of luck to you...enjoy it, they grow up too fast man! :)

Any idea of how it happened?

My daughters are all old enough now to cringe at some of my musical aspirations, so keep up the music, I find it's a useful thing to be able to make them wince later on without having to do any 'Dad dancing' to achieve the same effect.

Don't be a stranger, you've given me some of the best belly laughs I've had on the forum in your time.

Do you have a name for her yet?

Craig, thats a great idea, funnily enough we have a video monitor which i can't highly recommend enough, and it has occurred to me that it could come in handy if my machinations to turn the downstairs toilet into a vocal booth come into fruition :)

about 19 years ago I brought home a beautiful baby girl.  I love her to death.  However, be forewarned, girls and boys are way different.  And not just physically.

When I was a teenager, I truly believed that society made girls girlie and boys - uh - boyie??  As I watched my son and daughter grow, I realized that boys are born being able to say Pow Pow Pow using a finger as a gun and girls have an affinity for pink and dressing up.  Saw that in my daughter since the day she had the opportunity to pick her own clothes for the day.

Just remember, women are meant to be appreciated, never understood.

Female emotions are best described mathematically.

Congratulations though.  Seriously.  You are in for a rewarding and frequently expensive and confusing journey.
