Day Tripper - Mooch and Bapu make history (with a little help from my friend)

Paul (My Pal Mooch) wanted to do one more cover song before he tore down his studio for his move to upstate Illinois. How could I turn him down? So we did the Beatles song Day Tripper.

Mooch - All guitars
Tom* - Vocals (BGVs on "find out, I found out")
Bapu - Bass, Tambouring and BGVs

Check it out HERE.

For those that lurve the particulars:

Guitars = Gretch (IIRC) and acoustic (of some indeterminate brand)
Bass = Line 6 Variax Bass (Rickenbacker model) into P-Solo mic pre
Tambouring = Red RhythmTech via Sure SM57 into LA-610 mic pre
Vocals = AEA R84 Ribbon mic into Grace M-101 Mic Pre
Drums = Jim Roseberry's Jet City (Where's Ringo Preset) with blended (via drumagog) Steven Slate Rock Kick and Snare
Reverb = UAD EMT 140, Snare ValhallaRoom
Ahhhhs = A little of Tom. Mostly Soundiron's Mars Male Choir

*Tom was the singer in the cover band I was in. I played with his brother Mike (also a great singer then) from Jr. High through High School. Tom actually joined the band in my senior year.

Way cool, guys.  I love your choice of songs when you do covers.  Reminds me of that band from Liverpool whose name I don't recall at the moment.

Me likey, but I'm not sure I really want to see the video of Bapu playing both the bass AND the tamborine at the same time...  That might be a bit disturbing.

For the record. Wookiee heard the remix which was posted about 3 minutes before he listened.

    The remix entailed:

    Changed reverb on guitars.
Added a big room reverb on the snare.
Upped the hats and cymbals a tad or so.

She's a prick teaser - she takes me half the way there yeah.
Great stuff - I especially liked the Bass, Tambourine and backing vocals - they were 'special'

Wow - your old singer even sounds a bit like Paul McCartney. Nice touch! Impressed with the drums. Guitars and bass sound great. (Where was the Alembic I hear so much about?) My only critique - more of the Bapu BGV. On my speakers they are really buried in the mix.

Scratchy and emotive and lashy per se.  Decent!

IOWs not my cup for my Adams monitors or K701s.  Since its a cover, its difficult to like and dislike ... I await your next original.

AS IS, this may suffice for some live public entertainment where the party must go on.  IMHO/JMO

I did this a great many times 40 years ago!  Frome the best Beatle era.

The main guitar line should be more ringy an gutsy.  Cool.

Good cover! Fun to listen to.

the hi-hat seemed to jump out of the speakers and punch me in my face after a little while.

But the tone on everything is nice and phat and clear and mushy and cosy and heavy and loud enough Well done!
