Dear Cakewalk, please give Steven Slate a call...

I love Sonar X2.
I love Slate VCC
Why can X2 not love VCC too?!

How many problem reports must I send before someone even acknowledges that VCC crashes X2?

Yet I know VCC works excellently well in other DAWS....

C'mon guys. Just call Stevo and work it out. Okay?

Sincerely, L.

Ludwig Bouwer, One Big Room Studios.

    Ludwig,

I just mixed a CHB song with 40+ tracks (in X2a) all with VCC (and even a few buses too) and I mixed at least 5 hours a day over five or six days and not one crash.

I am with you on this man, In fact, I wish that Cakewalk would call Steven and straighten it out then, immediately license his tape emulation from him and include it in the Pro Channel line up!! So far, the only thing even close to competing with the UAD stuff right now and it would be amazing to have that kind of quality in the Sonar lineup considering legitimate tape emulation is the one thing lacking.

I've not had any problems with VCC, VTM or FG-X and they have been used in different combinations in lots of projects.

Do you have the steps to reproduce the crash and then I can try it tomorrow before I start mixing?

Well, Slate responded to my new problem report. Told me to reinstall VCC - Let's see.

I appreciate that it works for others - but it does not work for me. You telling me it works for you does not solve my problem :O)

I had problems with FG-X in X2 - now I'm back on X1 (awaiting the bug fix patch!!!!!) no problems at all.
There is some issue with X2 (on my specific set up) that causes strange graphical problems which are almost impossible to recreate and things like this slate problem.
They all disappear when I use X1 (same machine, same set up) so they MUST be something to do with X2 - that's why I've stopped using it.

I just tried calling, Steven, for you? But all I get is this chick named, Becky, who insists that unless I'm on some list of known distributers and affiliates, that I can't do anything other than leave hate-mail on their customer feedback site.

I'm beginning to wonder if this mythical, "Steven," even exists at all?...

VCC is something I'm considering purchasing in the very near future. I didn't know about any stability issues with Slate products and Sonar (I use a few with no issues). However I do really like sonar's console collection. Is there that big of a difference between the two sound wise? Thanks for the heads up LJB. I'll have to give the demo a really good work out before I just in with $$$ to make sure it going to work well and stable with my system.

Bandlab Platinum and every other toy I can get my hands on...and yes I'm way in debt over this obsession...

    Ludwig,

Consider this, when others tell you that it works for them (like me) it's not that we're bragging, or trying to make you feel bad but that we are pointing out that either

    a) (as karhide says) our workflow is different
    b) something in your system is probably different, causing the crash

But (in my mind at least) it tells me that it's most likely not the fault of SONAR. So, it's probably futile to ask, in the OP, that CW call Slate.

That is the purpose in telling you that it works for me.

Footnote FWIW: None of the 64bit slate plugs (and I own them all) have never given me any trouble.

Is it not the responsibility of the plugin developer to ensure compatibility amongst different host? I just don't see this as being CW's problem.
