Decent Strings plugin?
Hello Gang, Any of you find a decent Strings plugin for stuff say like Cello's and Violins etc...The TTS-1 string sections sound a bit too synthezised for my taste...and East West gold is way out of my price league. Any ideas? Thanks alot in advance Cheers Thalweg

I second that. ...using GPO right now to do some orchestra stuff.

Cool..just gave them a call. Seem like a standup company and the mp3 demos are very good. Thanks guys for the recommendation. Cheers

I think MOTU Symphonic instrument does a great job too. You might want to check it out too.

While you're waiting for GPO to arrive you might want to check out this free GM/GS soundfont bank: http://tinyurl.com/5dhoy It's got some really nice orchestral samples.

You can get EWQL Symphonic Orchestra for < $400.00 from soundsonline from time to time. The samples are excellent but the samples in Gold have “fixed†reverb which I found unacceptable. I also have Synful and find that I only use it for the occasional expressive line that I can’t get any other way. The string ensembles are not acceptable to me. There are good strings in cakewalk’s DimensionPro and it has GPO as well. Edit: It has the Pocket orchestra not the personal, sorry that was not clear.

ORIGINAL: Infinite5ths ...just another little tid-bit of great news about GPO: http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=88643 Oh...and HEY PAUL! Sorry to go OT here, but I love how the article makes it sound like they're ADDING jobs for orchestral musicians, not TAKING THEM AWAY. Let's replace 2/3 of the dancers with robots too.

Dimension Pro has some fabulous string sounds among other things. Of course, if your looking for only string sounds, then some of those programs may be beyond your present budget as you pointed out.

THanks for the great feedback. Got my GPO today and it sounds great..I'm a happy camper. Some getting used to the Kontact player bundled in, like loading instuments in the virtual rack but not being able to switch between the ones load. Always still plays for the first one in the slot 1. But overall exactly what I was looking for. These sounds will unlikely be a focal point in my tunes..so the quality is just right for me. Thanks again gang. Cheers
