Delay in playback between tracks

hello, im working with sonar LE, and im very new to it, i recorded a guitar track, then tried recording a separate bass track to go with it, but the sound is slightly off, between the bass track and the guitar track by like a fraction of a second. is there any way to fix this?

i am also having some dropouts, but then it picks up again, even more offbeat

What are your system Specs? Try changing the playback buffer size and see if that helps.

im on windows xp, amd athlon dual core, realtek hd audio. desktop. i tried screwing with the 'buffer size' and 'buffers in playback queue', turning both gradually higher, and testing it, but im getting the same problem. i also tried changing from MME 32 bit, to ASIO and WDM/KS, and neither of them worked, it said i was missing output.

I would suggest having your driver at ASIO. Have you installed the correct and latest drivers for your soundcard?

okay, its set on ASIO, but now there's no sound in the program. when i switched to ASIO, a error came up and said "the audio device is not available, you may reassign them, or keep the default." and then it said "missing devices, realtek hd audio output" and "available devices, realtek hd audio output", i just pressed okay, because there wasnt anything to select. and i tried updating drivers but it said im up to date.

The Realtek does most likely not understand ASIO drivers, at least they used to be incapable of that. You need to download ASIO4ALL, which is a WDM-wrapper, if you want to try ASIO.

WDM often works as well as ASIO or ASIO4ALL.

The most recommendable solution is to purchase a proper soundcard.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DuoCapture/  budget

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/QuadCapture/  4 inputs

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/OctaCapture/ 8 inputs

These are all made by Roland.  So you should get great support with sonar

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Multiface2/   My favorite-  I have had the same original multiface since 2003. Their drivers are unmatched

Asus P8P67 pro, I7 2600K, 8G Kingston Hyperflex, 2 1T WD Caviar Black(sytem, audio), 2T WD Caviar Black(samples), RME Multiface, Roland A500 Pro, Windows 7 Ultimate 64, Sonar X1C, Ableton Live 8, Reason 6, Komplete 7, DCAM Synth Squad, Omnisphere, Stylus RMX, Trillian

Sorry to say, but if you had waited for answers, one of the most common would have been: Stay away from Soundblasters. They are not at all popular in DAW work, even though many get by with them.

You have to check if there are ASIO drivers for the card on Creatives site. It might be there are not. In that case DL the free ASIO4ALL or try WDM.

Also check if that particular card defaults to 48 Khz. SONARs and soundcards sample rate and bit depth must be the same.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
