Delay on external insert

In the manual for S8.5 it says that the dealy on an external insert will be measured when clicking the delay control on the insert. The result in my case is: *0mS, o samples.
 
This is impossible and the insert is also playing with a delay which is pretty annoying.  
 
What does the * mean and how do I make Sonar measure and insert the correct delay compensation?
