Deleting everything but the highlighted portion of a clip
Does anyone know if there is a shortcut to delete everything not selected? Sort of an inverse delete. If I have a clip that is mostly silence except one section. I want to delete the silence before and after. I've seen it done in PT where you select the section of audio and the shortcut would delete everything outside the selection boundaries.

Check out page 680 of the Sonar reference manual. It's found in the Program files/Cakewalk/Sonar Platinum folder
It explains how to remove the silence from a clip. There are several ways to split clips. I hope it will be of help to you.

I am not sure if the OP concerns silence removal only, but if so the above works. Sounds like he is asking for a "trim to selection," sans the slip-edits, which would be rather nice.
Edit: reread the OP, so remove silence would work.

Exactly. I don't care about decibel level, attack time, hold time, etc... I just want to select from here to there and in one keystroke, delete everything outside that boundary. Currently, I would create 2 splits and delete the leading section and then the tail section. Again, I'm only asking because I saw a PT user do it.

Yeah like windows (old) invert selection in explorer! That would be nice.

I created a script with Autohotkey. Here it worked, but for this you have to make the following initial settings: - In Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Global Bindings, bind the key F11 to "Go to From" and key F12 to "Go to Thru". Also Alt+F11 to "Edit | Select | From = Now" and Alt+F12 to "Edit | Select | Thru = Now".
- Still in preferences, make sure that Alt+B is not associated with any function (Alt+B will be the shortcut key that will be used to make the Trim).
- Have Autohotkey installed and working. Enter the code below into a script file (.ahk):
SetTitleMatchMode RegEx #IfWinActive, ahk_exe i)SONAR.*exe !b:: ; **** Alt+B = Trim Selected Clip Send {F11}m@a{Enter}{F12}m@b{Enter}!+{F6}!{F11}{Del}^{Pgup}!{F6}!{F12}{Del}!+4{Down}{Up}{Del}{Down}{Del}^{F4}^+a Return
(The only issue I've seen so far: you should not have any marker within your selection. You can even have markers before or after the selection, but never inside).

Yeah, but only the first time. After that we just need to press Alt+B, because the configuration is ready ...
