Deleting tracks (X3e)

Hi-

I wanted to delete several tracks I didn't need from the Console View. I selected them and went to Track>Delete. It showed the correct number of tracks (i.e. "Delete 6 tracks") but nothing happened when I clicked it. Same thing if I right-clicked on one track, ya-da ya-da.  I went to the Track Manager and displayed those tracks in the Track View and then I was able to delete them from the Console View.

Is this some sort of safety measure (the tracks must be displayed in both views before deleting)?  I couldn't find anything in the documentation about it. Actually, I just tried deleting a track from the Track View that wasn't displayed in the Console View and that worked fine.  Maybe there's a reason for it not working the other way that I'm missing?

Thanks-

-Susan

    Maybe it's a safety thing(?)

In track view you're able to see if you've got anything recorded on the track. So you're less likely to delete an important track by mistake here that, for example, just happens to have a misguiding name or something.

    Just my guess though.

I have seen many inconsistencies with the so-called "sync" function between Track & Console Views.

Hitting 'H' in either view and selecting/deselecting tracks doesn't take immediately. I have to switch back to the other view, then back again and then, mostly, I can make my changes (again) and they stick.

This is irresepective of screenset settings.

    Hi Loptec-

Yes, that's why I asked if it was some sort of safety measure, but it feels more like a bug to me since it's not documented anywhere (that I've found.)  If it's intended behavior, maybe that "Delete Tracks" option should be disabled on the Tracks menu in the Console View if the selected tracks aren't visible in Track View.

    Thanks-

    Hi Brisol_Jonesey-

I'm not using the sync right now, but I'll keep an eye out for that.

    Thanks-

The tracks have not become locked?  Are they archived can not remember if that stops them being deleted.

    Hi Wookie-

No, neither. As soon as I displayed them in Track View, I could delete them from the Console View. I can't remember if it worked this way in 8.5.3, but I don't think so.

    Thanks-
