Dell SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio

I have just install Music Creator 4 on a Dell Optiplex GX 280 with a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Card.
There is no sound during playback on any type of files using MC4. I can playback .mid files using Media Player 11 etc...
Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Thanks

Try changing your driver mode to MME. The SoundMAX is, umm, not a particurly strong performer, and may not support WDM.

OK, so I went out and got a Tascam US-144...
    I can play mp3 - Great!
I can play cwp - Great!

How do I get midi files to play - still no sound...
I checked the settings from the "Tascam Audio Interface setup for Cakewalk software" that looks good.
I have a Roland SC-33, tried hooking that up to the US-144.

I am stumped, can anyone offer some help...

    Thanks!

congrats on the US144!! looks like a good card.

to get your MIDI to work, you'll need to learn to use softsynths. do tutorial #8 and it will guide you thru inserting a softsynth and life will be good!

yo. i had the same problem, but i don't know how to actually change it to MME. i went to device manager and all that, and it says "WDM-based device" but I don't know how to change it.

    thanks in advance!

I think... Audio > Options > drivers...select the right one.

    Welcome Robo56,

To change the driver go to: OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED> and there you will see the box for "driver mode".

    Good luck.

    Yes. 'Options>Audio>Advanced>Driver Mode'.

And it might be a good idea to start a new thread rather than keeping this 2-year-old alive.
