Dell Windows 10
I am running Sonar X3 on a Dell All in One and Windows 10. Recently, whenever I have done an update as per the computer request, Sonar X3 is no longer functional and I have to re-install from scratch. Besides not updating the computer, is there an other way to solve the issue. Today I will have to reinstall for the third time. Thank you for any help.

Thank you Gustabo. I tried it and got the following message: " the code execution cannot proceed because mfc110u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem." Help.

Yes this must be the 12th thread with the missing dll. message issue and now it's hitting x3 which more or less proves this must be W10 and not CCC or Sonar. The fix is to make a back up of your Cakewalk folder to another location or drive. You'll find the dll in question will show as a 0 bytes when checked with properties. All you need to do is copy from the backup and overwrite the corrupted dll.

Cactus Music, the only drive I have on the computer is drive C. However I have a couple of external drives where I can copy the Cakewalk folder. Would that work? Also when I copy from the backup, do I copy back to drive C? Thank you

Those were (CjLibrary.dll and TTSlibsndfile.dll) done a search on that DLL (mfc110u.dll) yet ? This is a windows DLL, Not a Sonar one. not really something you want to be copy/pasting in your windows syswow64 folder.

It seems that the solution is to reinstall Sonar X3 for the 3rd or 4th time. Correct.

Well every thread had a different dll that was showing as 0 bytes. Mine was Overloud.dll. So its not just one dll it almost seems random. If what Chuck is saying is true then re installing Sonar would not fix the issue. People were re installing Sonar to fix the other dll problems but all that is needed is to replace the contaminated dll with a healthy one from a back up file. You can make the back up file anywhere you choose. Just don't put it in the root of C drive as that will confuse windows. This might not be your issue but I'm putting this information here as others will google this issue and it might help them. When you get the message make a screenshot. Then you can follow the pathway shown to find the corrupted dll. Then you'll have to see what can be done, If this is not a Sonar related dll you better follow through possibly logging on to the Microsoft help forum https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/I've had mixed results but often a person will answer with the best solution to MS issues. Or you find others had the same problem.

Since that is a Windows file (part of the Microsoft Foundation Classes library) it's likely that Windows' SFC (System File Checker) utility will restore it. It might also be worthwhile to do a deeper system check using the DISM tool, e.g. c:\dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth This will take awhile to run, but it will verify the backup copies of system files that SFC uses to fix problems.

So funny thing... well I'm use to BS like this. lol Recording most of the day and not one crash or audio drop with 2017 10 BTW. Nice JOB to the Bakers on that. :) I'm going over the tracks I recorded. With out any reason, not being connected to the internet, not doing anything out of the norm on this 2 month old Win 10 system... The sound stops in Splat. I exit. No sound in windows as well and like I said I was working all all day... I reboot. still nothing. I check everything its all ok. I then go into the Device manger and everything related to audio as well as my Wifi that I had uninstalled when I got the system where all set back to default. Onboard Audio drivers where reinstalled. I deleted them and rebooted. they cam back. I went into control panel / sound I and there where 4 output options and 4 input options. all enabled. A few other things I had set had changed as well. so I deleted everything except my Tascam US1200 rebooted and everything was fine again. I did downloaded Splat and updated Virus ware, well before working but unplugged the net cable. Win 10 Shows no updates. I don't get it...
Hay look, Somethings are not locked in stone... lol 3/18/2019

mfc110u.dll was not found This happens if you're c++ 2013 r library gets hosed up. You need to to go to Microsoft's website and download the fix for it both 32 & 64 bit. Run the fix, reboot, and you should be OK.

I believe you are correct sir. There are other possibility's that have lead us to hear. For example: - Using Ccleaner's "Registry clean" function. It can remove components from redundant entries that are needed to run other programs. - Windows update is not up to date or has become corrupt. - A virus or malware is using a duplicate / or the original MCF100 as a host for running a logger or something of the equivalent. - A hardware failure- Hard drive on its way out the door/corrupt sectors.

Using Ccleaner's "Registry clean" function. It can remove components from redundant entries that are needed to run other programs. That was the culprit for me about 6 months ago, I googled the missing dll file and that lead to the C++ fix. I went here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 Clicked download and ran the installer, it gave me the option to repair. That did the trick.

This caught me out on Friday on my work pc (which I don't use for SONAR) It removed a couple of reg entries which prevented Sage 50 Accounts from running. I didn't tell my boss, just reinstalled Sage

Thank you all for your inputs. I however solved the problem by restoring the computer to a pre-update date. Everything is now working fine.
