Demo easy to uninstall?

Question: If I download the demo version of SONAR X1 and decide I don't like it, how hard is it to uninstall, and what's the likelihood it will screw with my other installs? Current promotion looks pretty good. Thanks. Mark

When I want to remove programs completely I use CCleaner. It is much more thorough than most program's included uninstallers. You can download it free from CNET... and yes it is a legitimate version of CCleaner. I actually have to install it on my DAW system to get rid of ASUS AISuite because it just won't uninstall the "normal" way. Many programs are built to leave bits of itself behind when you use their uninstall or Windows add/remove programs function. Especially bloatware. It's really annoying.

Uninstalling is way simple.  Just go the start menu, and in the Cakewalk --> Sonar Folder, click, "uninstall."

What I like to do after I uninstall, is check the paths of where the folders used to be, "making sure I've got the all clear." and then RUN --> regedit...   "makin sure I've got the all clear."

Simple, simple, in the grand scheme of things...

Yeah but using something like CCleaner in the first place avoids any extra steps and mayhem. That way you don't have to go hunting around to make sure it didn't leave little bits of gack behind. It's also great for completely clearing internet cache files which many browsers don't do properly. Especially IE.

And that's not to say the X1 demo uninstaller isn't thorough. I haven't tried to uninstall the demo I downloaded months ago. Never even used the darned thing actually. I just popped it open to make sure it all looked normal.

For me, the Euphoria of having access to Sonar hasn't worn off yet.  The economy has been so ****ty, that I've been making do with Abe Live and Reaper..   Obviously Abe Live is pretty good, except it doesn't have the same audio editing as Pro Tools, Cubuendo and Sonar.  Reaper on the other hand, is simply a nightmare to work with.

When I'm cleaning out my internet browsers, and temp files, doing registry defrag, and cleaning; I like to use the tweak now power pack.

Yeah, Ableton Live is for a specific purpose. Easily constructing and triggering loops. Sonar is more organic and does the stuff an old rock dinosaur like myself needs to do but it still has some pretty power loop and trigger functions. I'm still very much intrigued by Reaper but it is extremely bare bones and I wonder about stability/compatibility with it. I look at Reaper as the gutter punk of DAWs while Sonar is more of the working man's platform and Pro Tools is the business executive at the top keeping a stranglehold on our economy while not really contributing much back to society. Ableton is the wacky raver kid living off a trust fund and blasting dance music at 4 in the morning next door while the rest of us try to get some sleep. Damned kids.

Call me maybe, but I hear odd artifacts in Reaper's audio engine, and I think that what they where trying to do was, "grow the user base, have an insta hit, and sell out."  or Winamp 2.0 if you will..  I agree on the Ableton Rave Kid, but Live, at least at Version 7 which is what I've got, cause I didn't do the v8 upgrade, does not crossfade, does not zoom in and slice like Cuby, Sonar, or PT

Well when I was first told about Reaper years ago the buzz was that it was a bunch of program developer/engineers who were sick of PT and other ridiculously priced DAWs and decided to come up with an open source alternative. It's still only $60 (and you can still get a full version for free) so IDK. I thought the point was to stick it to the man. Essentially the Linux of DAWs. I could be wrong though as I often am.

Truthfully, I think Justin is a great guy.  I'm happy he's been way successful, and I hope he gets to continue and enjoy what he is doing.    EDIT=  It just occurred to me.  If you really want, or need Reaper.  Send me a PM.  You can have my license.  $30 or trade for a cool effect vst or something.

Well, you are supposed to have it licensed.  I sell you.  Good Reaper License $30.  Or trade for any cool vst fx.   Send me PM

    Cheers

Heh... thanks but I'm sure there are others more in need than I. When I'm ready to mess with Reaper I don't mind paying the full price. For now I've got my fancy Sonar stuff to work with so I'm more than happy. Again though thanks for the offer. As far as plugs and stuff whenever I get smart enough I'll probably try to create some of my own little presets and stuff to share with the forum. For actual plugs and VSTs all mine are registered and likely going to be used so can't help ya there. Cheers.

yah..  all my plugs are registered too.  but ya know..  some companies do allow transfers.   As for not wanting to buy my Reaper license..  I don't blame you...
