Demo functions: Simple question
In the SONAR demo, should I be able to use the softsynths that are listed as "demos"? DS864 dsi demo npulse demo PSYN II demo Velocity demo All come up as "failed to initialise. Not installed correctly". But I am not sure if this is because they are not there, or something has gone wrong. I simply installed and said "Yes" to any questions.

Hi Nick- I can't answer your question, but did you see my reply in your other thread? You can call sales toll-free at 1-888-CAKEWALK. They might be able to field some basic demo questions. It's worth a free call if no one here can answer, no? -Susan

By chance, did you download/install the P5 demo, too? IIRC, DS864, npulse & Velocity are P5 plugs. PSYN II is included with S5PE. I've never tried the S5 demo version, so I can't directly answer your question.

ORIGINAL: OldNick How do I use the plugins from P5 in S5 demo? My guess is that you can't use them in S5, demo or not. They probably only work in P5.

This is correct. Ok. thanks for that :-< Not shooting the messenger, but that does make the S5 demo a bit of a damp squib, and that crippling of those does not seem to be mentioned in the readme.

I'm sure there is e reason for not making the Project 5 demos work in the Sonar demo - do you intend to buy both? If not, the P5 synths won't come with Sonar anyway! (So trying them is kinda pointless, maybe?) Brian

(So trying them is kinda pointless, maybe?) Brian Sorry. I am confused on two fronts. The synths are available in the Menu in the SONAR demo. They allow you to choose them and bring up a dbox that is to set them up, but then say they are not properly installed. If they are "P5 synths" then why do they pop up in the SONAR demo's menus? these two lines from the readme are the only two that say synths are not included, or non-functional. • Roland GrooveSynth is not included • RXP REX Player groove box is not included Where are "PSYN™ II subtractive synth, Pentagon™ I vintage analog synth, SFZ SoundFont sampler" in the demo? They are claimed features for SP5. As I think someone comented, buying both, if I can get an upgrade, is lookatable value if P5 has all those synths built in and SONAR does not. But given that I cannot try any of the featured synths in SONAR demo, it's hard to tell.

This is correct. It would seem not quite. I have discovered that at least one of the synths is supposed to be included in SONAR (PSyn II). This is what makes it confusing. Also the Pentagon I analog synth is not anywhere in the demo, although it is supposed to be part of SONAR, and does not seem to be in the Demo exclusion list.
