Den

Working on some stuff for work at home today.  Looked sideways into the den and it struck me.  How many folks' dens look like this?  How many 50 something's?  Music can be a bit pervasive and invasive, huh?

The MacBook doesn't have limbs to pull off.  That's the only thing that saved it.

See there, darlin, those are CD's.  You had to take them out of the case, and put them into this here CD player.  And you had to take them with you if you wanted to play them in your car.  Yeah, I know, archaic.  But, on the other hand, they DID have audio spectrum content above 11 KHz...

    That looks great Mike.

My living room is kitted out quite similarly with my DAW, CDs, DVDs, books etc - but quite a bit smaller. I'll take a few pics.

Nonsense.  I can't even see the Cheeto dust all over the carpet and furniture.  There's no evidence of extensive rot and/or decay.  There's no future becan walking or lying around, as if to suggest the presence of a stye.  Some things appear to be located somewhere other than where they would have fallen, as if someone "put things away" intentionally.

Granted, just because I couldn't see anything drastically wrong, doesn't mean a woman wouldn't want to change ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about it.

That's not entirely true, of course.  She may let you keep one of the CDs.  As long as it never enters the house again.

Very cool.  No guitars out I see - must be protected somewhere.  Reminds me very much of visits to the UK - there's a warm and friendly feel to homes there I have visited, different from here in the US.  Footstools, throw rugs on rugs, and ceramic heaters (for the lovely UK Winters, and Springs, and Falls..).  But there's no obvious place to put your drink down while you're mixing.  On the other hand, how often have we had an evening of lubricated mixing, thinking "this is the greatest stuff I've ever done", only to think the next sober morning, "where did this garbage come from?".

I share your book and DVD enthusiasm - the den is just where I keep recent views, the basement holds the 700 or so main library.  Netflix has made me rethink all this.  Anyway, thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Mike

If I had a room like that, it would look like that too.  No it wouldn't, cause I don't have all that gear.  But I'd get all my music stuff in one place for sure AND finally have room for more than two people in the studio at once.  And don't give all us women a bad name...if we had two dens, we could each have our own.  :)  (don't have one right now so he only gets to take over his own office, but it's got plenty of floor space to cover.)  :)

On a positive note, though, we're considering new ways of rearranging our 3 bedrooms (one of which is his office.)  I'll either get his office and he'll get the small room, or we'll move into the small room and I'll get our larger bedroom for my studio.  Now if we could just get a free day to work on it, it might actually happen. :)
