I did.

And for those whose mommies aren't with you anymore my sincere condolonces. I guess listen to some of their favorite tunes in rememberance.

Of course those with kids of their own do somethin' nice for your babbymomma(s) too (if they aren't horrendous that is).

BTW - My Mom was born on Mother's Day 88 years ago (her birthday was last Friday this year) so, as an only child, you can imagine that I'd be in deep doo doo if I were to forget this time of year!

Excellent. If this thread reminds one person then it served its purpose.

Actually I was gonna call my mum this morning anyway but I didn't realize it was mother's day until I saw a reference to it (and not even a direct one) on an semi obscure news site I frequent. Did some googley moogling and lo and behold it was indeed mummies day.

I usually pay attention to this type of thing and there are usually a whole whack of news articles online to remind me beforehand but this year things have been so crazy and I did not see any mention at all betwixt all the rotten news of the world lately.

I don't get to do much for the old gal these days but a phone call that starts with "HAPPY MOMMY'S DAY, MOMMY!!" makes her ever so happy.

I'm hoping next year I can send her something via Amazon. Maybe a Johnny Cash collection or sumthin'.

I was rather forcibly and abruptly separated from her when I was VERY young so when we finally developed a closer relationship I was in my teens. We're more like best friends than anything else and she's the ONLY family I keep in regular contact with. Really she's probably the only reason I've never been to jail or ended up dead through the sheer fact that it would hurt her too much.

lol... no.

Today any writing will be done like a trust fund kid with no real world worries/obligations. The "NO TOMMORROW" urgency in my art can start anew soon enough... yanno when "NO TOMORROW" isn't just a Beepster mind trick to keep me "hard".

Gotta be careful these days. I damaged myself enough over the years living my life like I was in a warzone.

A story on the CBC today about an effort to get incarcerated mumsies (not convicted but can't afford bail) reunited with their kids for mommy's day I thought was nice... despite the rather disturbing problem that makes it necessary.

This is really sad.
Beepu on fathersday could contact dad.
You have only one, and one day he'll be gone.
If untill now he was not a gread dad
Doesn't mean you can't be a great son.

Yeah, mine was a prick when we were kids.  Mellowed with age and was a helluva a lot better with grandkids than he was with kids.

He went quick and peaceful, so it's all good.

"Men" who bully and beat women and children are not men.

I figure I'll try to contact him before he dies but if I miss that opportunity (or if I already have) I won't be too broken up about it.

I don't subscribe to the idea that just because you knocked someone up that automatically makes you worth a damn.

Best thing I ever did was cut that arsehole out of my life (which was NOT an easy task).

But enough of that knob. Get back to teh sillay!

yeah Beeps, checkout if yer dad really still deserves that life sentence.
pick a date (fathersday) and get it over with, so it's out of your head.
worst case it confirms your current picture you have of him.

If I do it certainly wouldn't be on father's day. That would give the impression he deserves the title.

Now if there were a "Slimy Sh*tweasel Day"... that might be more appropriate.

Honestly I don't think he'd even want me to contact him. He's the kind of guy who prefers his indescretions remain safely swept under the rug. It is quite possible I'd punch him right in his fat, smarmy gob too and I'm too pretty to go to jail.

Yanno... I was thinking about the best way to describe dear ole pa and realized that would be...

Take Donald Trump, subtract all the money and add a RAGING problem with hard liquor.

I am not kidding. The similarities are striking.

That is not a political comment. It's a comment on personality and the treatment of other humans.

Yeah, I don't think I wanna talk about this anymore.

...My Mom was born on Mother's Day 88 years ago...

Mine died on Mother's Day 1992. She would have been 88 this year, too.

Celebrated the occasion anyway, by taking my daughter to lunch. I guess it's still acceptable even if you just know a Mom.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
