Difference in detected plug-ins between Plat and CbB
I thought CbB would detect and use all the plug-ins the sane as SPlat?? When I start Splat and it scans for plug-ins it finds 227 CbB on a startup scan finds 211 I'm not sure what is not being detected or if it matters. Just that I noticed the difference.

To generate a log in Platinum, hold the SHIFT key while clicking the scan button in Preferences > File > VST Settings. CbB has a check box in the same Preference screen to create a log.

Thanks for the way to list them. That brings up another interesting "issue". When Splat or CbB is started it reports the different number of plug-ins, but when I run the VST Scan/List it shows the same number of DLL's found, 226.????

Are the exclude lists different in the plug-in manager?

I just took the time to to sum up the counts with latest version of CbB on my system and they don't sync. # shown on VST Scanner results: 3079 Per Cakewalk Plugin Manager: DX 46 VST 1583 VST3 868 DXi 5 VSTi 234 VST3i 24 MIDI 7 DMO 17 Control Surfaces 6 total: 2790 Maybe the difference is that DLLs that fail to scan (such as iZotopes supporting dlls) are being counted in the scanner results.

AFAIK the VST Scanner shows all the plugins it found, including 32bit, 64bit, VST2 + VST3 versions - so potentially 4 versions of the same plugin. The plugin manager will not show any 32 bit versions of 64 bit plugins it found. By default it will also hide VST2 versions of a plugin if there is a VST3 version.

msmcleod By default it will also hide VST2 versions of a plugin if there is a VST3 version.
Unless something has recently changed it hides VST2 version (when there is also a VST3 version) from showing up in Cakewalk generated menus and may possibly replace them within projects* but not from the Plugin Manager. *don't remember if it does this or not...

Open the CbB and Sonar Plugin in Managers and compare # of VST, VST3, VSTi, etc. that's the only way that you are going to tell for sure. If all the counts for the the different types match then you're golden if not check plugin paths and Excluded. FYI I compared CbB's Plugin Manager against the VSTScan.log. It appears that the count includes all DLLs in plugin path (even those that are not VSTs/VST3s but supporting plugins) and it counts dupes. For example I found I had 3 copies of a plugin - all 3 are listed as being scanned and can be found in the reg database but Cakewalk's Plugin Manager only shows one of them.

The paths to scan that are set in the VST Scan are identical in both Splat and CbB. My only conclusion, so far, is that CbB detects "plug-in" differently than SPlat.
