Difficulties exporting Midi files from Sonar 8.5.3

I'm trying to export a Midi file for a drum track from Sonar, so that it can be shared with others who have various different DAWs.  My problem is that when I save it as a Midi Groove Clip & export it, the file comes back having large gaps with no midi information in them.  I tried splitting up the track into sections & exporting clips of only 10 bars in length (its a total of about 120 bars long), but the problem persists.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going wrong, or perhaps if there is another way of doing this?
Thanks

When you export to a MIDI Groove clip, it only exports the clip and not all the repeats. To save it with the repeats you have to save as a CWP or MIDI file.

    Thanks for the reply...
There are no repeats in the clip - its a complete midi replacement of a live drum performance, & I don't have the option of saving it as a CWP file because I want to share it with others who are working in different DAW platforms.

...ah... I get what you're saying about saving as a midi file now (I did a little more research).  I did that, but my problem is that when I do save it as a midi file, when I check it by importing it into a project, its all scrambled!  It has huge gaps of nothing in the file & it ends up being more than 1000 bars long! (the original song is about 120 bars long)... It seems to me that the file seems to be splitting itself up of its own accord & moving itself in chunks along the timeline???  I tried bouncing it to clips to consolidate any stray layers I might have missed, but it doesn't make any difference. I tried saving it as a new project but I get the same result... any one know what might be going on?

Did you try an " Export"  as midi file or " save as"  midi 0 or 1?
Woops you beet me to it.

Is there any way I could send someone the original .cwp file so they can see what happens when I try to save it as a .mid file?

Apologies if this is too basic or you've done it already, but why don't you just drag the midi file to your desktop from Sonar.  It might not solve the issues with your file but it is the easiest way to get your midi file out.

Thanks, yeah I discovered this neat function just recently (I've had lots of experience with audio, but not with midi!), but unfortunately I still get the same glitch when I drag / import the file into another program... I'm sure there's some really basic, dumb thing I'm doing wrong, but I just can't seem to find it anywhere!
