Digi002 w/Sonar 3 Pro

Hello all. Quick question. Can you use the Digidesign 002 Rack as you audio interface for Sonar? If so. what needs to be done. I just brought one for a "B" room but I'm not ready to move over to ProTools yet and want to use it within Sonar, if I can.

Yes you can if you download & use Digidesigns ASIO drivers.

Ok, I logged on to digidesign.com and read that I only need to download the above drivers if I have 6.2 or earlier. The 002 came with 6.4LE. So it says that the drivers are installed automatically? What else needs to be done. When I go into Sonar -> Options -> Audio, I dont see the 002 device. Although I do see it within the MIDI setup.

Have you changed the drivers to ASIO on Options/Audio/Advanced/Driver Mode?

Ok, I changed the Driver Mode to ASIO. Thanks bill for that tip. But now I dont have any audio devices in my Playback or Record Timing? Should the following be checked: 1) Apply Dither 2) Share Drivers With Other Programs and 3) Play Effect Tails After Stopping. Also, in the General tab. When I go to click on "ASIO panel" is something suppose to happen, because nothing does.

Sounds like the drivers didn't instal. I'd try reinstalling them, using the ones from the website.
Restarting the PC and then Sonar should pick them up then. You pick your timing and record masters, and restart again. That should work.

Thanks a lot. I now see the 002 in my Sonar audio drivers, but as far as MIDI is concern I nothing but the MIDI in light is on, with a keyboard connected. Also, when I hook up an device into the line in, I dont hear anything when I play them. I do see the 002 device within my audio tracks in/out puts, but not any MIDI.
Starting to think that trying to use this with Sonar is going to be a big headache? Is anybody using the Digidesign 002 Rack with Sonar?

The MIDI drivers would msot likely be a seperate installation -if Digi even offers them for Windows.
Does Digi have Windows Midi drivers for the 002?

I'm using the digi002r with sonar 3 just fine...

Midi presented an issue as well as sonar hanging when quitting but this link by jabdo56 provides a work around.

Seems like everyone is having the same problem with Sonar hanging when selecting MIDI and not exiting right. But has anybody been able to plug in the drum sequence into one of the line in on the 002 and hear anything? This is the third interface that I've used and the other two allowed my to plug any thing into the line-in and listen (i.e keyboard or drum machine). This is driving me crazy. I need to hear what ever i plug into my "line in"

Hey Jon thanks for the link. I was able to get my MIDI recognize by using the instructions from James. But you say that your set up is working fine. What is your audio set up. Anything that I have connected to the line-in connections of the 002r, I dont hear anything?
