Digital Sound Factory Vol 1: Problem with velocity switching

Hello,

I'm using the Digital Sound Factory addon packs in Dimension LE. While there are some great sounds in there, I have problems with the Dimension Grand patches from Vol. 1. The velocity switching is very "unsmooth", there are abrupt volume changes.

Here is an example of what I mean. I create a simple MIDI track with a few notes with linearly rising velocity and feed that into Dimension LE with DSF's "Dimension Grand" patch. I would expect that the volume of the played notes slowly increases just like the velocity does. But it doesn't...

Result: http://exp6.net/dim/DimensionGrand.zip (zipped mp3 file)

As you can hear, the volume doesn't really increase at first and then very abruptly. This makes the piano patches almost unusable for me.

Can someone confirm this problem? Or is it a problem with my setup?

I'm bumping this, since I'm interested in buying the DSF XP1, and I'm curious to know what other people's experiences with it have been like. I would be getting it mainly for the pianos. The pianos in DimPro are okay, but not great, so I'm hoping the pianos in DSF XP1 are signficantly better. Has anyone here used them? Any thoughts about them? Are they worth the upgrade?

I now have an answer from DSF :) They confirmed the problem and are working on a fix for it.

I just got Vol. 1 expansion pack for Dim Pro. I think I'm having a similar problem with unpredictable volume changes, but I haven't used it enough to be sure what's going on. I'm pretty sure it was piano patches.

When you get an answer, can you share the solution with us? Thanks.

    Hi All,

First, thanks to m1cro for pointing out the velocity issues with the piano. Our product quality is extremely important to us. After taking a look at the SFZ files, we discovered some in correct values. Not sure how it happened?, but it did. We made some preliminary fixes and sent them to m1cro to evaluate. When we get things worked out, we will post new SFZ's for the piano. Thank you for your patience and sorry about the inconvenience.

    Best Regards,

    Tim

Tim-- Could you post a notice on this board when the piano sounds are fixed? As I mentioned, I'm interested in ordering the expansion, but I'd rather wait until everything is working properly, rather than downloading it now, and then having to download a corrected version later.
    Thanks.
