Digital Sound Factory Yamaha & Steinway HD Grand Pianos

Hi All,

We are excited to announce our new Yamaha and Steinway Grand Piano Hi Definition Dimension expansion packs. Each of the pianos contain four velocity layers of pedal up and four layers of pedal down controlled by the sustain pedal (cc64). Eight microphones were used to sample each note at 24 bit resolution. The Yamaha is 1.9 gigabytes and the Steinway 2.2 gigabytes.

We recorded the Yamaha C7 at ‘The Annex’ in Menlo Park, California located in Studio A. This piano is used daily on recordings and is full bodied with a smooth range. Light velocities produce gentle timbres that transition to powerful full velocities.

We recorded the Steinway Model L at ‘Whip Records’ in Berkley California. This piano is also used daily and is one of the sweetest sounding pianos I have played. The name “Steinway” says it all! Note - Digital Sound Factory has previously released a scaled down version of the Steinway for Cakewalk Sound Center.

A special thank you and recognition to Keith Albright – (Cakewalk Sonar/Dimension engineer) for his advice and guidance allowing us to create the best sounding pianos for Dimension ever!
