Digital in

Hello all, I am not getting any sound when I try to send the audio signal in digital format. I am currently using a MIA card, and I have also tried going through my M-Audio Project Mix digital inputs. I am getting midi signal at my Motif-ES Rack unit but no sound. When I connect in analog the sound is fine. I have tried s/pdif and lightpipe connections with the same result. Is there some setting that I am missing? Thanks for any help. Art

You will want to check the driver settings of the interface. The digital in may have to be turned on. Also make sure th Motif is set to digital output. If this doesn't work then consult the cuatomer service at M-audio (good luck with that).

Hey Art, I dont know what to say about the m-audio card, but I have two pieces of advice.

    1. Stick with the mia midi, hehe. I love echo. I have a miamidi and have never heard of the major problems that I have heard of, and tried to help people with on m-audio cards, specifically the firewire 410.....

    2. I couldnt get my digital in to bring sound in sonar either and I emailed echo tech support. They told me on the right od the echo miamidi mixer interface is a little vertical rectangle square that has A 1-2(analog) on it, and one below it that says D 1-2(digital). Click the D 1-2 and unmute all inputs and outputs. I did that and, I had sound. The digital part of the interface has its own mute/unmute selections.

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers, Lance

That should do it and I have an Echo MIA and record via the S/PDIF all the time. Make sure you change the synch to S/PDIF or you will get pops.

If you want to get spdif signal, don't forget to set the spdif source to external btw :) As for M-Audio, I run a Firewire Solo, Audiophile 2496 and two Audiophile 192 and never had problems whatsoever, to me, M-Audio have very solid interfaces.

Yes, I love the M-Audio interface, this has been my only issue with it and I am sure that re-checking these settings mentioned here will help. By the way, I picked up the IK Phillarmonik software and the sounds are truely amamzing..

Also remember with digital interfaceing both devices have to be operating at the same sample rate, they should also be using only one sample rate clock (that takes care of the other point). This also means that the device on both ends has to be able to do that sample rate as well as the interface.
