Dim Pro and Midi help please!

Hey guys I am trying to use dim pro to run 2 different sounds. So I load up my strings patch and record my part and everything is good. But then I try to open another instance of dim pro to run some drum sounds and x2 producer freezes up and I have to close the whole program and start over. So is there a way I can just add a other midi track and trigger 2 different patches from the same dim pro synth? I think I have read how to do this in the past but can't recall. Thanks in advance!

I run many instances of Dim Pro along with many instances of Garritan Aria without too many problems. I have noticed however that certain Dim Pro patches do cause crashes and white screen.

What happened to me last night is also of concern. I was editing a piece with many Dim Pro instances, was happy and went away for a while. Decided to call it a night with the last action being inserting another Dim Pro, saved no problems. When I went to open the file today it caused X2a to crash on loading every time! I go back to a slightly earlier version before inserting the last instance of Dim Pro and it loaded no problem.

There appears to be more bugs in Dim Pro that just some rx files causing crashes.

    Cheers,
    Phil

I've never done it but there's an option in Dimension Pro that lets you use 4 separate midi channels/instruments at one time.

I too have thought about that multi-timbral functionality, just never tried it.

I have no trouble running as many as 8 instances of Dim Pro in my projects, so I am quite curious as to why the OP is having trouble just running 2.

OP, can you please provide additional detail on your issues?  Maybe it is something that can be fixed.

Dimension Pro is my go to synth and it doesn't crash for me.
It is used in almost every project I do.

I've completed almost 2 dozen projects so far using Sonar X2 exclusivley with up to a 8 or more instances just to let you know how much I use it.

It *may* be that certain patches cause problems with Dimension and I just happen to never have found the ones that cause problems.

Which version of Dimension are you using?

If I were in your shoes, I would remove everything related to Dimension Pro, and do a fresh re-install of version 1.5. This is assuming you are not having other problems with Sonar or your DAW.

As far as using Dimension Pro as a Multitimberal instrument there are limitations.

You cannot load 4 different programs into a single instance of Dimension. You can only load 4 instruments or sounds. Some programs take more than 1 bank because they are layered sounds.

I usually do not bother with setting Dimension as Multitiberal and just load a new instance.

I have Dimension Pro and samples located on my system drive.

Have you tried to insert multiple instances of Dim Pro into your project without selecting a program?

Nothing is overclocked on your system, right?
    Memory settings are correct?
Memory is on the list of tested memory for your MB?

Thanks guys. If I am running just one instance of dim pro then everything is fine but its when I add another dim pro and start recording it just freezes. No white screen or blue screen or anything it just sounds like a cd stuck on skip. And everything is frozen.

Everything is stock no overclocking or anything everything is installed as recommended. It is with all patches not just certain ones.

What version of Dimension Pro are you running?
Are you trying to insert the synth while the project is playing back?
Have you tried to insert 2 instances of Dimension Pro at the same time? Insert the first instance and do NOT select a program for it, and then insert another instance.  Do this in a new project.

How are you attempting to insert the synth into the project.

You seem to indicate it is not patch specific.
As I said before, if I were in your shoes, I would remove everything related to Dimension Pro including registry entries, folders, and do a fresh re-install of version 1.5.  Then rescan your VST's.  That will probably solve the issue.
